lucky? I guess you could say he is lucky. at least he doesn't have to race at laurel or Timonium or live in MD.
lucky. what a tool.

Mo Town was a very poor excuse for a racehorse on Saturday. Hopefully the connections will take him off the Derby trail. My list is now down to four
1-Mc Craken 2-Petrov 3-Gormley 4-Mastery

My list is now down to four 1-Mc Craken 2-Petrov 3-Gormley 4-Mastery I am keeping my mind very open this year. Doesn't seem like a dominant colt in this crop and I am not even entirely sure we've seen the class ceiling for the majority of horses that have raced in the second set of preps. Alot of pressers and trailers winning, and the front runners and stalkers who have won did so earlier this year ... with the exception of the Southwest winner I am not even sure what I make of this prep season. I want to see more. I mean can I really take Fair Grounds prep scene seriously when compared to what is going on out west or at Oaklawn, or even at Gulfstream and nyra?

nothing wrong with uncle mo as a sire or as a distance sire, but people over react as soon as they see mo anything in a horses name suddenly the last couple years. this one is just like mo tom and toms ready last year. horses that have no business even being in the derby picture. this horse won the remson. so what? another example of a new York race that has produced a long list of duds in recent years.

Cal (Cathal) is from No Ireland. He moved to PA several years ago but then moved to Md in 2016. His bro - Fergal - is an ok jock but think it says a lot that trevor's riding El Areeb - major step up! Currently Cal's 3rd in laurel trainer standings. horse has surprised them with his ability

Thin she was replying to your comment - "I don't know much about the trainer though." Cathal Lynch is El Areeb's trainer. Damn Wiz - you really do wait to dump on her LOL

well that comment was a long time ago and she has posted a few times since then so I had no idea what she was referring to.
I don't wait for anything. the opportunity just presents itself so often that it is hard not to do it.
but of course she is little mrs. innocent, right JON?

Irish War Cry is this weeks can't miss derby horse, he's the talk of upcoming fountain of youth stakes. He will end up like Mo Town off the tote board.

i cant argue with that. I said that 3 weeks ago. he is way too short of a price and even if he was a bigger price, I don't like him. he would barely make my top ten list, maybe.

I'm not looking for applause these past two weeks quite a few odds on three year olds haven't lived up to expectations.

10) 12/1- irish war cry- getting WAY to much ink off of that last race. yes he looked good winning it but he could not have had things any easier then he did. he took no pace pressure and crawled early. clearly he is a contender but the odds are a joke.
2) 25/1- gunnerva- chased a lone-f winner in last and had trouble to boot, but never quit and rerallied outside for 2nd. he probably wasn't going to beat the winner that day anyway because of the pace situation but he surely would have been closer. he has an experience edge over many of these but should be fresh as that was his first start after a nice little break. distance shouldn't be a problem, but his running style is just like mccraken's so there is always the possibility of traffic problems. I definitely like him but the odds are bordering on too low for me to play.

Mc Craken and Petrov are still on course to make the starting gate come derby day.... Petrov will gain ricardo santana jr and dump jose ortiz jr. I'm delighted that I still have a shot be have called the winner a few months in advance.

my list is shrinking, after mccraken stinking it up I'm down to petrov (runs next week in Arkansas derby) and gormley who runs soon in the Santa Anita derby.

Looks like you ran out of winning cards. Those two are not up to snuff with the best 3yo's out there.

Horses coming out of the Mastery races sure look tough now. Mastery would have been the horse to beat in the derby now it seems. Always Dreaming looks tough off the Florida Derby win only 3 ticks off the track record beating some good horses. Malagacy looks like another monster that Petrov could not touch.

it appears three of my five will be in the starting gate derby day. petrov will earn enough points this saturday in the ark derby. I've thrown in the anchor on mccraken his bluegrass was a hot mess. gormley ran well I don't want to hear his time was so slow, he won the race. if a coveted baffert horse had won the race in the same time there'd be no noise.

Don't be so quick to count out McCraken. He had a bad break and like I said in another post , You were not going to close on that track either Friday or Saturday and he missed some training AND a start so he needed that race. My derby bets will without a doubt have McCraken in them also don't go all gaga over Gormley as he needed a taxi to get the last 1/4 of that race and if he runs like that on Derby day he'll surely be far from the winner.
