Was one of the race conditions a minimum # of workouts? LOL Will the infamous 1/2 sister scratch?
Santa Lucia Attracts Two-Time Champ Beholder Bloodhorse
Two-time Eclipse Award champion filly Beholder towers over six older fillies and mares in the $75,000 Santa Lucia Stakes at 1 1/16 miles April 20, her first start since winning the Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by Richard Mandella and owned by B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm, Beholder is in search of her fourth consecutive win as she preps for the $1 million Ogden Phipps (gr. I) at 1 1/16 miles June 7 at Belmont Park.
"We were looking for a race to get her started and we felt this would be a good prep for the million dollar race on Belmont Day," said Mandella. "Adding it up, we just didn't want to ship out of town for her first race back. I don't feel she's wound up as tight as she might be, but it should be good enough for now."
A supplemental entrant at a cost of $1,500, the 4-year-old filly by Henny Hughes is looking for her ninth overall win from 13 starts. Winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) at Santa Anita in 2012, she was America's Eclipse Award-winning 2-year-old filly and the Eclipse champion 3-year-old filly for 2013. She has career earnings of $3,075,000 and will be ridden for the fourth time in a row by Gary Stevens.
A filly blessed with tremendous speed, Beholder has eight works on her Santa Anita tab dating back to Feb. 26, including consecutive seven-furlong moves. The most recent April 12 was timed in 1:27 3/5.
Beholder was assigned 123 pounds, six more than each of her rivals.
Lightly raced Eblouissante, half sister to legendary Zenyatta, has been idle since running second as the 3-5 favorite in a second-condition allowance going 1 1/16 miles. She will try stakes competition for the second time while making her fifth overall start. A 5-year-old mare by Bernardini , she won her first two races—a maiden special weight Nov. 16, 2012 at Hollywood Park and a first-condition allowance at Santa Anita Jan. 17, 2013, both at 1 1/16 miles.
Like Zenyatta, she is trained by John Shirreffs. She will be ridden for the second time by Mike Smith. Owned by St. George Farm Racing, she has two wins from four tries with earnings of $77,800.

maybe its because they don't hide works out here at off the wall training facilities so it looks like there are 3 and 4 week gaps in a horses pattern. whats wrong with having a solid base under a horse before she runs? that's called training. I know you east coasters don't know much about that, but maybe you should look into it.

Two things:
Are these really the entries? I didn't think they drew entries at Santa Anita until a day or two before the race. Maybe "probables"?
Second, be careful, you may get yelled at for posting the list of horses more than once!

am sure that was a joke - geeeeeeesssshhhhhhh
everyone is being damned cranky - jon - i laughed - no horse has had more workouts than ebby - and beholder's had like 8 in 7 weeks? i thought the goal was for horses to earn $? do workouts pay? what i don't get is it's fine for some of you to rip, shred, bash someone's pick or favorie horse and call it "joking" - but no one can do that to onbe of your fave horses? it's spring - CHILL OUT
just checked equibase - those are entries - apparanetly sa's only running sat and sun?
as to your other snarky comment? seriously george, couldn't you just have put 3 names? your post took up the page for no reason - it's tedious - i didn't even bother to wade thru it to see who you highlighted!

where did i give a "training tip"? you are, as usual, the one making up crap
and there's no "shit" back east that doesn't go on everywhere - you have no proof - just your "conspiracy theories"
as you are a guy who loves baffert, IMO - you are NOT someone who knows jack about "horsemanship" - how to win races? you favor legal drugs, not training so stop the BS - i like mandella but this is his not his work pattern with other horses - and there's no one out there - especially in cali - that comes close to charlie as a trainer - but hey - you're the one who constantly blasts "old fashioned training" - therefore your opinion on this is meaningless
besides IT WAS A JOKE - how many works has ebby had? 193325656565498496949030?
you? unbiased? ROFLMFAO
like a chamelon - w/e works for your current opinion
leave me alone and please stop stalking my posts as you are a friend and it pains me to see you acting and sounding like a stupid ahole

The subject line was "Who are your top 3 picks as of now?", but the top contenders weren't posted, just the winners of each of the races going back to last fall or earlier. Since DRF had just posted the updated points and earnings list about an hour or so earlier, I thought it would help to post it so everyone could see how the horses stand as of the last major races. BFD.
Let's see now, in the last couple of weeks I've been characterized as making "boring" picks, told that I love to bet favorites, and now providing information that hadn't been posted before is "tedious".
What's getting tedious is having to weigh my words, worry about who I pick in a race (even though they WIN), etc. Everyone seems so cranky and crabby. Listen, when wiz and I are the two around here who get along the best, something's up!

I hope they both race! It makes it a race to watch. I think Ebby may still surprise some. No - she's not her sister but so what?
As to the rest of this thread - OY VEY!!

asked by jon........... Was one of the race conditions a minimum # of workouts?
caits response......... no horse has had more workouts than ebby - and beholder's had like 8 in 7 weeks? i thought the goal was for horses to earn $? do workouts pay?
doesn't that sound like your questioning the mans training? or am i "making this up"? then again in your last response as well.......... i like mandella but this is his not his work pattern with other horses
once again, doesn't that sound like your questioning his training?
stupid Ahole, huh? maybe an assholke occasionally, but definitely not the one sounding stupid here.
now if you want me to stop responding to your poss, i expect the same. adios.

Hey wiz, she made a believer after me dominating the Distaff. IMO, the horse still doesnt get respect. Ebby is a freaking bum. Beholder will be 1/9 and should be. If not, there are too many 'tards who look at the Moss/ Sherriffs history and fire in because of sentimental reasons.

yeah, agree on that mack. ebby has proven who and what she is. if people are dumb enough to keep playing her against horses like beholder off of her breeding, then they deserve to be broke.

Wiz - My comment WAS a joke! No training tips that I see. We're always going to disagree on the Distaff but I like Beholder. I hope she comes East. She should win this race by 10! Ebby needs a new regimen.

Ebby needs a new regimen. I hope POS comes west too...............oh wait I forgot. she doesn't want any more of that action, now does she? so after beholder wins on Belmont day, then what? is she supposed to dstay back there for the rest of the year to make the east coast doubters happy while POS is scared to ship back out here for the breeders cup this year? just want to know what kind of excuses to expect later in the year.

LMAO
Nah - not biased at all! It would be great to see Beholder win outside of CA. No excuses later in the year. Already announced Princess not going to BC. Good. It's time for some fairness from the BC instead of keeping it at one track that is home to many of the entrants.

POS will probably come back in the ruffian and then skip the Phipps because it is too soon after, even though beholder will be right there in her own backyard. how convenient, huh?
