Well, $1M is four times what she'd get in a grade 1 at home. I don't know about Princess of Sylmar - the Phipps is 6 weeks from her last race, around the right spacing. We'll see.

pos wants no part of beholder. believe me, unlike the people on here, the owners of pos know what time it is. that's why they are already saying no BC. oe less chance they will meet up with beholder.

Last year they said she wasn't going to the Breeders' Cup before Beholder was even a blip on anyone's radar. The owner was cajoled into a last minute decision to send her.
Sorry, I don't see it that they don't want any part of Beholder, I seriously doubt that this year there is any thought of avoiding Beholder. They will run her in the races they feel are best, regardless of who else might show up.
Princess of Sylmar won at five different tracks in four states last year - she wasn't ducking anyone. Beholder ventured away from southern California once.

Wiz , I don't think it has anything to do with ducking anyone. I think the owners and trainers here east of the Mississippi are getting damn tired of playing all the "Championship" games on the road . If anyone bitching about not having the marquee matchups it should be they fans bitching at the BC and tell them to move it around a little and quit kissing CA racing and propping them up. We have shown that we can handle the BC and all its watered down 2 day event just as well as the West can. I will even go out on a limb and say you would have more head-to-head match-ups of top horses if they did bring the BC back east.

As much as I still think it should move around, I would be half satisfied if the Breeders' Cup was held at Churchill Downs permanently. Few of the BC caliber horses call that track their home base, and it's convenient to most of the tracks in the country.

My suggestion for EBBY's connections as they go to face Beholder..... SCRATCH!!!!!!! go visit Strong Mandate as he has nothing to do as of right now. I know he has no plans for May 3rd. You called it. She was scratched a few minutes ago.

Rumor is that Shirreffs thought she had 50 workouts since her last race, but double checked and found out it was only 49.

IF the connections weren't sporting, Princess could have skipped the BC and won an Eclipse. After the track nonsense last year, I'm glad they've said NO to this year's BC. As I've said before, I wish Eastern based horses would stage a Boycott of the CA Cup! Can't argue as we need to leave for NJ LOL

Ebby scratched? LOL Shocking - NOT! Maybe she wants to go visit her niece who we might see racing in about 9 years!

The race attracted seven entries, the two single-digit ML horses have scratched. There is already $240K in the show pool, $236K (98.2%) of that is on Beholder.
The way Stevens has been riding lately, might he fall off at the start?
