The freaking mule won a race!!!KEEN ICE, horse racing's haley's comet. way to go Keen Ice this will get the sport back in the spotlight. I saw two snails and a rock complete a 1/2 mile in 49 yesterday maybe they would have had a chance Saturday. If anybody says that horses like Pharoah and Arrogate don't matter then they are full of crap. We have no excitement without them with the exception of the TC races and they were less than stellar this year. I went to CD during the last few days of the meet and if you threw a handful of skittles you wouldn't have hit two people(exception was Night racing Friday night). Nobody gives a shit anymore unless it is a big day they would rather sit on their ass and punch their buttons and watch it on the computer screen(exceptions made) so in that sense I would like to give a shout-out to teen who has traveled to a few tracks this year and taken in the sites firsthand. Thanks for letting me ramble and vent.

Unfortunately the last week or so of any meet at a decent track is deserted, the big outfits are waiting for the next meet (Belmont to Saratoga, Santa Anita/Los Alamitos to Del Mar, not sure what follows Churchill Downs, certainly not Ellis Park) It's just a part of the game these days, certainly not what it was 20 years ago.

nose I held out for a while back in the day, still going live when I could have started betting at home. but the volume I was betting at the time made it financially crazy for me not to play from home on the computer on sites offering rebates. if the tracks want to win back players they need to understand that. but they never will. they just want to fight reality by offering a F*ing duffle bag or a calender once a year and expect players to return to the track. but I also knew once I stopped going live and stayed at home on my ass not getting the exercise of going to the windows every race that I would bloat up. which I did. so whats more important? money or health? I chose money. wish I hadn't.

Wiz, I wasn't directing anything towards anybody here on this forum because I have no idea what you or anyone else here has going on or what your situation is. I was talking about some of my friends and others that say they LOVE horse racing but they never go and stay at home and bet so to them I say, you don't love horse racing you love BETTING on horse racing. I had an opportunity to get tickets for millionaires row on the 28 and/or 29th for $24 each which included a buffet(really good food) all the tea or soft drinks a program and access to the balcony and that is not including a % I get off tickets and I couldn't find 5 people who wanted to go and all proclaimed to LOVE racing.

boy I would have loved to have gone if it was physically possible. you know I really am a fan of horse racing regardless of what any of the biased old biddies want to think on here (not meant towards you nancy). but the fact is gambling on horses is how I have made a living for the past 25 years so money and finances does play a big part in how I see things and what I do. but that doesn't mean I don't miss the old days also. hell I would give anything if it were 1987 again and me and my dad were sitting in one of the old box seat areas in section H at santa anita eating carved bbq ham sandwiches on a Kaiser roll, talking to guys like Lukas, maccanally, and the bald eagle between races, and watching horses like snow chief, Ferdinand, alysheba, bet twice, lost code, and many others before and after them. fighting traffic just trying to get out of the parking lot after the last race, even with valet parking. going to eat at EDWARDS steak house after the races. all of it!
