I am a big CE fan but I think a rest is in order for him and bring him back at the end of the summer and get him race ready for the BC Classic.

Looks like he's running Nose/
Classic Empire, Japan’s Epicharis Head Probables For Third Leg Of Triple Crown Paulick
With three weeks to go until the third leg of the Triple Crown, it appears that neither the Kentucky Derby nor the Preakness winner will be making an appearance in the Belmont Stakes for the first time since I'll Have Another's untimely retirement in 2012. According to the Daily Racing Form, neither colt has officially been ruled out, but the standard procedures followed by both trainers, Todd Pletcher and Chad Brown, is to give their horses five or six weeks of rest between starts.
Perhaps the unluckiest colt in the Triple Crown this year, Classic Empire is expected to start in the Belmont Stakes, reports trainer Mark Casse. The son of Pioneerof the Nile finished fourth after a disastrous start in the Kentucky Derby, then was just beaten a head on the wire by Cloud Computing in the Preakness after pushing the Derby winner through rapid early fractions. Another exciting contender expected to run in the Belmont is the Japanese-trained UAE Derby runner-up Epicharis, who will bring with him a significant number of wagering dollars from his home country.
An additional 11 colts are currently under consideration for the Belmont, as of Monday afternoon. They include Senior Investment (3rd Preakness), Lookin at Lee (4th Preakness), Multiplier (6th Preakness), Conquest Mo Money (7th Preakness), Tapwrit (6th Ky Derby), Gormley (9th Ky Derby), Patch (14th Ky Derby), J Boys Echo (15th Ky Derby), Irap (18th Ky Derby), Twisted Tom (1st Tesio Stakes), and Meantime (2nd Peter Pan Stakes).

Don't forget the superstar of Southern California, Gormley. Will the horse whisperer get his (cough cough) fourth win of the year?

gormley didn't hit the board in either of the first two George. that's what my point was. no one of any importance is in the the race, with a 1.5 million dollar purse. I see at least 4 or 5 more interesting races on the card, yet they are on the undercard because of these idiots who want to stockpile everything on to one card.

Counting this year, eight of the last twelve sets of Triple Crown races have had three different winners. Just because the winners of the first two races aren't in the Belmont doesn't lower its stature.
I know purses are higher than years ago, but still you have three $900K winners and one $700K winner in the race. On the other hand, collectively the field has won 40% of their lifetime starts. That's not shabby.
What is "shabby" is that we now have 12 3-year olds who are about halfway through their second year of racing (although 2-year olds don't start racing until late March or April) and the average number of starts is less than seven, only one has had more than nine! That's ridiculous.
It's a whole different game now, and it's not because of casinos or Lasix. Trainers coddle their horses these days, and yet they still get injured or break down. Who knows, maybe they'd be stronger if they had more starts and more experience?

well it kind of is due to casinos and the big purses. no one goes through their conditions anymore. no one runs in preps to get ready. the purses are so big and so easy to find that they can just spot them and get 1 or 2 wins in them against small fields and then get out of the game just as quick and go to stud. I agree more racing would probably make them stronger, but when they crank them up so high for the BIG purses and races you are only going to get so many races out of them.

We're running late - have to get to Nancy's so Jon can drink the bottle he's bringing! I am tired of the casino $ argument. It IS drugs IMHO. Racing just isn't what it used to be. The big purses encourage drug use and there are so many drugs, there's no way to test for all of them. Breeding is done for speed, not stamina. The result is weaker horses with really thin legs that can't take the stress of lots of races.

www.drf.com/news/all-sources-betting-belmont-stakes-declines-92-percentlike I said earlier, a decent card at best with two lackluster races heading it. this was the worst met mile and Belmont fields in the last 5 years at least. if it weren't for the fan fair of getting to see songbird win (at 1/5!) it would have been as exciting as watching a Monday card from turf paradise.

Or a Saturday card at Santa Anita - did you see the extravaganza they put together yesterday, topped by the all-important $75,000 Rainbow Stakes? PS - probably because they can't put periods in URLs, but it was down 9.2% not 92%.

well all I can say is Saturday at santa anita wasn't supposed to be their marquee day of the year and they had enough common sense not to waste a lot of money or top races on it when going up against what was supposed to be a big deal in new York.

Get rid of a trainer who is occupying about 40 stalls with horses that don't run and you'll have a lot more room for horses.

Thought it was a good card and the Belmont a decent betting race I would like to thank the soused one for not only his wild enthusiasm for Tapwrit but also for telling me to play Ascend - made my day!
George - posted interview in CA section = interview with the idiot Ritvo. Be sitting when when you read it! LOL This is one of the gems - build hotels at GS and make it a ship-in only track. Like they haven't already ruined GS!
