'Object' Found at Keeneland 'Not a Big Deal'
A spokesman for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission says an "object" found in a test barn at Keeneland Race Course that sparked an investigation is not something that would impact the outcome of a race.
"It is very benign; not a big deal," KHRC and Public Protection Cabinet spokesman Dick Brown said Oct. 20. "This 'object' is not something that would impact the outcome of a race..."
A short release sent Oct. 19 from the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet, under which the KHRC falls, said an investigation was underway after an "object" was found Oct. 18 in Barn 21 at Keeneland, which is where the KHRC conducts its TCO2 testing.
Television station WLEX reported the object was a piece of equipment found under a pile of hay.
The release did not describe the object or say when it was discovered on Oct. 18 and requested anyone with information to make an anonymous call to the KHRC's toll-free Integrity hotline at (866) 993-3949 or (859) 246-2848 or via email to KHRC.Hotline@ky.gov.
