Economic Indicators For April Show Increases In Wagering, Purses PR
Total wagering, race days, and starts in the U.S. in April were all up from their 2014 levels, according to economic indicators released on Tuesday by Equibase.
Wagering in the U.S. was up 5.86% in 2015 as compared with the same month last year.
Purses were also up for April, 4.92% as compared with 2014.
The number of race days increased this year, up 0.83%, compared to April 2014.
The number of races, however, declined, 0.69% as compared to last year.
The number of starts in April 2015 were also down, 2.01% compared to 2014.
Year-to-date economic indicators showed across-the-board declines.
