From NYRA.com. I find his statement troubling, he spends more time talking about "guest experiences" & Entertainment than the MAIN reason to attend.. The Horses & California Chrome..
One last point how can one be a "guest" when you've paid a fee to park and walk in the gates? You're a paying customer....just sayin
Statement from Chris Kay, President and Chief Executive Officer, The New York Racing Association, Inc.
By NYRA Press Office
"We are extremely excited that California Chrome will be coming to Belmont Park in his quest to become thoroughbred racing's 12th Triple Crown winner on Saturday, June 7. Fans from around the world will enjoy a spectacular day of racing punctuated by 10 stakes races and more than $8 million in purses; enhanced guest experiences in our exquisite new dining venues, and special entertainment from LL COOL J and a performance from the Broadway hit WICKED. We look forward to a historic day at Belmont Park and for the great State of New York."

Did you actually READ the statement? More time talking about yadda yadda than the "MAIN reason to attend"?
The statement is only three sentences.
First sentence:
"We are extremely excited that California Chrome will be coming to Belmont Park in his quest to become thoroughbred racing's 12th Triple Crown winner...."
Second sentence:
"Fans from around the world will enjoy a spectacular day of racing punctuated by 10 stakes races and more than $8 million in purses...."
Third sentence:
"We look forward to a historic day at Belmont Park and for the great State of New York."
All three sentences mention the "MAIN reason to attend"!!
You could make a sow's ear out of a silver purse.

I'm sure NYRAs biggest supporter wouldn't dare miss the 2nd largest day of racing... Or would you???

I've already posted here that I will NOT be attending the Belmont Stakes, and probably won't see any more of them live. In fact it was in your Sam's Club discussion, and you even quoted that post: paddockpros.freeforums.net/thread/6747/handicappers-belmont-tourny-sams-townI'm getting older and the 2-hour drive each way along with the 7 hour racing day is too much for me. I'm saving myself for a few trips to Saratoga and a couple to Suffolk Downs - both drives are much less stressful than a Saturday morning drive to NYC. I've had my share of Belmont Stakes - about 20 of them, some of the memorable - Arts and Letters foiling Majestic Prince's TC bid, Pass Catcher doing the same to Canonero II, ditto for Coastal (Pleasant Colony), Summing (Spectacular Bid), Easy Goer Sunday Silence), Lemon Drop Kid (Charismatic). And of course I saw Secretariat win the Triple Crown in 1973. The last three I saw live were the Colonial Affair's (first and only female jockey win in the TC), Lemon Drop Kid's and Drosselmeyer's.

That's a REAL shame such a fan of racing won't be there when History is being made.... I HATE NY Racing & NYRA, but as a FAN I must witness this event.. As I've stated I won't bet one penny into the pools. ALL offshore that day..
I get to see Beholder beat POS in her home track will be just as good as the Cal Bred California Chrome sit in the history books right next to Secretariat .....
Oh what a day it shall be!!!

Will I bet into there pools?? HELL NO !!! Will I bet ?? HELL YEAH into my offshore account....
But let's get back to the point of this thread... How can one be a guest, when one has to pay to park and enter??

"UNLIKE you I'm a HUGE FAN of Racing"
So, because I'm no longer able to attend a potential Triple Crown, even though I attended SIX potential Triple Crown Belmonts and maybe the most historic Triple Crown victory, I'm no longer a "racing fan" in your eyes?
