Really liked Union Rags!
Union Rags' First Foal Is a Colt Bloodhorse
Lane's End Farm announced the birth of Union Rags ' first reported foal Jan. 19 at Dixiana Farm in Central Kentucky. The foal is a colt out of the multiple stakes winner Gleaming (by Dehere), who is owned by William Shively's Dixiana Farm.
"Union Rags is a very athletic, beautiful horse. It's exciting to see a nice foal with plenty of leg and bone out of a maiden mare," Dixiana farm manager Terry Arnold said.
Bred and raced by Phyllis Wyeth's Chadds Ford Stable, Union Rags was a grade I winner at 2 and finished second in the Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I). He went on to win the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) as a sophomore.
The son of Dixie Union stands at Lane's End near Versailles, Ky., where his 2014 stud fee is $35,000.
