In my opinion AQU is desperate to make Mondays work, if they had to come up with this "gimmick" to get People to the Racetrack.
Here is the story:
Beginning Monday January 20th one lucky fan with a $1,000 to wager on a Horse of his/here's choice as part of the "Grand Mondays" Promotion.
Each Monday for a limited time Guests can pick up an entry by the first floor escalators in the Big A's Grandstand. The voucher must be used on the 8th Race. There is one entry per person.
For more rules and details go to the NYRA website.

$1, 000 in dollars or pesos? Mack, maybe Renminbi? Mondays was traditionally a day at Aqueduct that was heavily attended by Chinese patrons. Many Chinese restaurants in Chinatown and other Chinese neighborhoods in the city are closed on Mondays. When I was in college we had a light day of classes on Mondays, so my friend and I would go to Aqueduct more often that day than others. We were amazed at the number of Chinese bettors there. Of course, that was years ago, things may be different now.

Evelyn, in addition to this promotion, NYRA Rewards has a rebate schedule that has been rated the best of any track and/or ADW program. I can't find a text version of it anywhere, but below is a graphic showing the rebate schedule. Also below is a graph showing the comparative rebates for the major US ADWs. Just about every track in the country now has a similar, but not nearly as lucrative. This is over and above any periodic promotion like the $1000/Monday NYRA promotion.

NYRA only gives 1/2 point for bets on out of town tracks while other ADWS such as Twin Spries give full credit. Nyra would do better if they gave full credit especially on dark days.

NYRA only gives 1/2 point for bets on out of town tracks while other ADWS such as Twin Spries give full credit. Nyra would do better if they gave full credit especially on dark days. Actually twinspires gives four points per dollar bet on CDI tracks, two points for all other tracks. But the rebate percentage for an equal number of points is much lower than NYRA Rewards. Cashing in 2,000 points gets on a wagering credit of a mere $2.00! That's 1/10th of one percent, the lowest of all those programs being discussed today. The seemingly high number of points is cosmetic when the rebate % is a fraction of all other programs. As for NYRA's one-half point per dollar, that brings the rebate for simulcast wagers to 0.67% for the lowest level of wager total, still about 3X that of most other track-sponsored rewards programs and about 6X that of twinspires' 0.1%. Of course, twinspires has the built-in benefit of free brisbet PPs (I've been using them ever since they've been available via FTP in text format in the early 1990s) on tracks you bet on.

Agree Alan just saying NYRA could do more for their account holders. I can accept their 1/2 point when they are opened but when they are dark or cancel they should give full credit for each dollar bet.

Agree Alan just saying NYRA could do more for their account holders. I can accept their 1/2 point when they are opened but when they are dark or cancel they should give full credit for each dollar bet. Since NYRA Rewards is already doing more than any other systems, why change? Like I said, twinspires has reduced points (1/2, like NYRA Rewards) for non-CDI tracks, and I'll bet if we looked into some of the other systems we'd find the same thing. My biggest beef with NYRA Rewards, which isn't their doing, is that in Connecticut we can't wager online, just by telephone. That makes it very difficult to make last minute bets. I signed up with BetAmerica a couple of years ago, but there were too many minuses about them that I didn't feel comfortable with: - They're a small organization based in North Dakota, and have only been in business since 2008, describing themselves as "In 2008 we were just a couple of average guys wagering online." I'm not sure I'd be willing to give them my checking account information. - They only give you points information on their site for their "bonus" tracks, which apparently are higher than other tracks. I've looked all over the site, I can't find what that lower point level is. - They don't carry NYRA tracks, which gets the most of my action - All the CDI and Magna tracks are non-bonus tracks so the promotion for those tracks is a lower level than their bonus tracks. - Their free PP deal is only after a certain level of bets, twinspires are free regardless of how much one bets on the particular track. I've used trackmaster PPs in the past (was one of their very first subscribers) but am much more comfortable with brisbet. The body of their PPs and all other PPs comes from the same source anyway. Finally, and this really jumped off the screen that put doubt in my mind as to how they keep up on things - in their list of tracks they show Twin River (greyhounds) as a track for which they take bets. Twin River hasn't run any dog races in about five years or more. If they're not aware of that yet it makes one wonder.

Well why not do more. Instead of ticking people off by raising admission fees why not increase rewards points instead. Might even generate more new accounts and increase handle. Just a thought.

Whenever I asked BetAmerica for a payout it comes by check, the check has ALWAYS cleared....
In the world of ADW's smaller is better IMO, they listen to their customers needs, complaints.
About not taking NYRA you know my feelings on that, when I do bet NYRA I use my BetUS account.

Well why not do more. Instead of ticking people off by raising admission fees why not increase rewards points instead. Might even generate more new accounts and increase handle. Just a thought. I hear you. What I think would really help would be a change in NYS law, allowing them to open accounts for people outside of NY and Connecticut, and open online betting to residents of Connecticut. We're talking betting accounts - admission prices (which for years have been about as low as any other tracks that charge admission, basically any track without a casino) are another issue. Obviously parking and admission prices aren't a factor for online or telephone bettors. The proposed increase was that, a proposal, and I think it got enough resistance from several members of the board of NYRA that those increases won't wind up being implemented. But, even if they are, they will affect only casual or infrequent visitors. NYRA still offers season passes that are ridiculously low, $150 a year for clubhouse admission and $75 for seniors (old farts like you and I) Believe me, if someone is going to the track often enough to be concerned with rebate rewards, they're certainly buying those season passes. Twice a week visits drops the price of Clubhouse admission to less than a dollar a day for seniors.
