Alastar Thoroughbreds Welcomes Shackleford’s First Foal Paulick Report Shackleford, winner of the Preakness S. (G1), Met Mile H. (G1), and Clark H. (G1), sired his first foal when a filly was born on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Alastar Thoroughbreds, LLC near Nicholasville, Kentucky. The chestnut filly – sporting a strong white blaze like her sire – is out of the stakes-placed Saint Ballado mare Angel Flying. “She’s gorgeous,” said Luke Sullivan, manager of Alastar Farm. “She is a tall, racy filly with a face just like Shack.” Shackleford, who bred 168 mares in his first book, was the first horse in over 50 years to win an American Classic at 3 and the Met Mile at 4. He will stand his second season in 2014 at Darby Dan Farm for a fee of $20,000 stands and nurses.

Seems like only yesterday he was winning races! First thing I noticed was the blaze - exactly like the one Shackleford has.
