Stevens: 'I came back with the hope to participate in the highest-level races' by Paulick Report Staff | 02.06.2013 | 6:31pm Since his January 6 return to riding, jockey Gary Stevens has accumulated two wins and nine seconds in 28 starts. One month later, he says he's not only hoping to improve his win record, but is also aiming for his first stakes win of the season this weekend. “I’m disappointed with the seconds, but I like the way they are running,” Stevens told the Daily Racing Form's Steve Andersen on Wednesday. “I feel good. I felt good when I started and I feel better now.” Stevens, who is working horses most mornings and riding races nearly every day, will be aboard Slim Shadey in the San Marcos Stakes at 1 1/4 miles on the turf this weekend. He reports that HRTV continues to be supportive of his riding, allowing him to take a leave of absence and rework his commentating schedule as needed. www.paulickreport.com/news/people/stevens-i-came-back-with-the-hope-to-participate-in-the-highest-level-races/
