Alvarado Suffers Broken Ankle in Starting Gate Mishap NRA Press Release
Jockey Junior Alvarado was injured in a mishap before the start of the East View Stakes at Aqueduct Sunday afternoon after his mount flipped in the starting gate.
According to a press release from NYRA, Alvarado’s mount Miss Narcissist became fractious and flipped with the rider in the gate. The 2-year-old Linda Rice-trainee, along with Underthemoonlight, with jockey Manuel Franco in the adjacent stall, were both scratched by the track veterinarian before the start of the race. NYRA reported that both fillies were walked off the track.
Alvarado was unseated during the incident and was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y. for X-rays of his left ankle. The rider confirmed his injury, later tweeting, ”Broke ankle in 3 places!! Partido en 3 pedazo el tobillo!! Thanks to all friends and people that been worry.”

Junior's Agent Mike Sellitto tweeted out today on Thursday he will undergo surgery to repair his broken ankle and will miss three months.
That's too bad Junior is a very good rider, I wish him a full recovery.

I agree - very good jockey. Often under-rated.
