Well I've seen it all now. The NYRA Stewards denied LOOOCH Stables entry of their horse May B in Saturdays' Woodward Stakes thus leaving us a 5 horse field. The owner of Loooch Racing made the mistake of letting the Stewards know that his horse was going to be a rabbit for his other horse War Story. The stewards then fearing that this might hurt Gun Runners chance to win promptly ruled that May B could not be entered because it wasn't in the race to win. Well that sounds fine and is a rule except rabbits have been used forever and as we all know every race run daily has 2 or 3 horses who are entered that are not running to win but simply having public workouts or doing the racing Sec a favor and filling a race. Just a lousy ruling by the Stewards at the tourist trap.

I guess my question is why did they say anything? Just keep your mouth shut and enter the horse, everybody in the country knows what you are doing, just don't blab it. on the other hand, what do they care?they are getting the entry fee and the wagering and I along with the majority believe it won't make a lot of difference if he runs or not.

agree with ya - "rabbits" are used all over the world - so what? does anyone know if a "bunny" ever actually won?

Anyone familiar with racing would know that they aren't "NYRA Stewards", they're the stewards assigned to Saratoga. Only one is appointed by NYRA, the other two are appointed by The Jockey Club and the New York State Gaming Commission.
I see that Paolucci says in the DRF article "I’m not trying to make a mockery of the race", yet he purchased this horse a couple of weeks ago specifically for this. The horse couldn't even win an 870 yard quarter horse race in April at Los Alamitos for a $12,500 claiming price, and he was seriously interested in entering him in the Woodward Stakes?
By the way, the Racing Secretary at Saratoga isn't having trouble filling any races.

looch is a lying, piece of shit Ahole. hes a deadbeat who likes to play the bigshot but doesn't pay his debts. if he had any sense he would have kept his mouth shut before and after but he loves the spotlight. yes its a dumb rule but he even dumber for not taking obvious road around it.

I don't think a rabbit would have helped War Story.
