She is the best thoro in the world! Amazing race
Winx blunders start before claiming 18th win in a row with remarkable fightback

WINX — you can never tire of watching equine perfection.
Sydney’s super mare scored her 18th win in succession with a typically, ruthless efficiency at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
She only had a half neck winning margin in the Group 2 $250,000 Warwick Stakes (1400m) but this will be go down as one of her greatest wins.
Winx was in a playful mood in the barriers and came out four lengths behind them. Her rider Hugh Bowman didn’t panic, remained last and then let the great mare descend on her rivals from the turn
It was thrilling compelling theatre as Winx was estimated to break 32sec for her final 600m sectional as she nailed her stablemate Foxplay in the final few strides.
Bowman, who seems impervious to pressure, was almost nonchalant after the race.
“Her win was pretty impressive,’’ Bowman said. “It wasn’t a big margin but she won pretty easily.’’
Trainer Chris Waller said he was in awe of Winx’s amazing last-to-first effort.
“That was a pretty special win,’’ Waller said. “She has had a good gallop anyway. “We had to get her to top speed today!”
Winx was throwing her head around in the stalls and it was unfortunate timing that a barrier attendant had hold of the mare’s bridle trying to keep her calm just as the barriers opened.
This caused Winx to miss the start but this once-in-a-lifetime champion does things other horses simply can’t do.
“These things happen in racing, you have to expect it from time to time,’’ Waller said.
“But Hugh kept his cool and the mare was good enough to overcome what happened at the start.
“It was a great win, a memorable, particularly as Bob Ingham, who has been so good for my career, sponsored the Warwick Stakes.’’
Winx’s narrow winning margin doesn’t belie the fact the champion seems to have returned to racing as well as ever and there are no signs of her famous winning sequence ending anytime soon.
