DANZIG MOON OFF THE BOARD AND PULLED UP AT WOODBINE. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE BIGGEST ANGLES IN RACING. BET AGAINST ANY HORSE WHO RAN IN AT LEAST 2/3RDS OF THE TC RACES AND WAS AN ALSO RAN IN BOTH RACES, IN THEIR NEXT START. THEY ARE ALWAYS OVERBET BECAUSE OF THE COMPANY LINES THEY KEPT AND ALMOST ALWAYS BOUNCE. PLUS, IF THEY WERE AN ALSO RAN IN BOTH RACES, THEY WERE PROBABLY NO GOOD TO BEGIN WITH.

This is depressing. He was a very nice horse. RIP
Wiz - You made several posts supporting Danzig Moon after the Derby. Now you say he's "no good"? Also - your heading for this very sad news was inappropriate. Taking a tragic event and using it for a snotty, totally irrelevant subject is just wrong.
Danzig Moon Breakdown Mars Plate Trial By Jeremy Balan Bloodhorse
Charles Fipke's homebred Danish Dynaformer closed gamely to win the $150,000 Plate Trial (VIDEO) by three-quarters of a length, holding off a late run by Conquest Curlinate June 14 at Woodbine, but the Queen's Plate prep race was marred by the fatal breakdown of Danzig Moon.
John Oxley's Danzig Moon, trained by Mark Casse and ridden by Julien Leparoux, was tracking early leader Midnight Trace into the backstretch during the 1 1/8-mile test when he broke down and dropped back rapidly through the field.
The 3-year-old son of Malibu Moon then collided with R U Watchingbud, sending both jockeys, Leparoux and Emma-Jayne Wilson, to the ground. Replays showed Leparoux springing up to grab Danzig Moon's reins, but the colt had sustained a broken right hind leg and was later euthanized, according to Woodbine spokesman Keith McCalmont.
"The injury consisted of a compound fracture and the horse was humanely euthanized," said Dr. Grey Taylor, veterinarian for the Ontario Racing Commission. "The horse will go for a (necropsy) at (Equine Guelph Hospital) this afternoon."
McCalmont also reported both jockeys and R U Watchingbud were unhurt after the incident.
"Julien is OK, but we are heartbroken over Danzig Moon," Leparoux's wife, Shea, said on Twitter.
Danzig Moon was last seen racing to a sixth-place finish in the Xpressbet.com Preakness Stakes (gr. I), and also ran fifth in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) and second in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) earlier this year.
Danish Dynaformer, trained by Roger Attfield and ridden by Luis Contreras, was previously third in the Marine Stakes (Can-III) at Woodbine May 16 and had allowance and maiden special weight wins at Keeneland and Gulfstream Park, respectively, prior to that.
"(Danzig Moon) was right behind me when that happened, but I was on the outside," Contreras said. "I felt sorry for that horse... There was a lot going on, but you can do anything with this horse. He's very relaxed and calm. Everytime you ask him, he goes."
The son of Dynaformer sat in seventh as Midnight Trace set fractions of :24 and :48.68 through a half-mile, avoided Danzig Moon after the breakdown, and improved to fifth as Portree took command and hit six furlongs in 1:13.13. Third into the stretch, Danish Dynaformer rallied to hit the wire in 1:49.81 for the 1 1/8 miles on the all-weather track.
The winner paid $9.90, $4.90, and $3.40 across the board. Conquest Curlinate delivered $4.40 and $3.10, while Conquest Boogaloo 1 1/4 lengths back in third, brought $6.70 to show.
Danish Dynaformer was bred in Ontario out of the Danehill mare Danish Wildcat.

no ev. after the derby i said he ran way better then i expedcted as i gave him no chance in the derby. i also said that if you liked him going into the derby then there was no reason to get off of him now. that is what i said. i didnt like him before or after and never played him in any of his starts. also after he confirmed his status as being over rated with his poor showing in the preakness, what i just said is true............. he was never any good to begin with. that is exactly what i said. im not glad this happened and my heading wasnt expressing any happiness that it did happen. it was simply asking a question as one of your members seems to blame things on certain people and certain tracks regardless of reasoning or facts. horses get injured and die all the time. its the way the game works. but that doesnt mean its always someones fault. thats why i was asking. seems like a legitimate question to me.

The connections were trying a new thing with this horse. They were pushing him to the limit to keep him on the pace in tight quarters rather than letting him run his own race from the middle of the pack. DM felt very uncomfortable in this position and in this state of uncomfortable-ness and confusion took a bad step. The owner and/or trainer are to blame and you can say they ran this horse into the ground. Yes they did.

Nick - I don't think he was "run into the ground at all". It was an unfortunate thing that does happenand is not the trainer's nor the track surface's fault.
Wiz - Sorry - Your title was definitely "bait". The race was Woodbine, not Del Mar and the trainer was Casse As it was directed at 1 person and was completely irrelevant to Danzig Moon. Send PM. Or create a new thread! IMO both questions have been discussed enough already and not everyone agrees. Big Deal!

true. but the difference is, when that "other" person spews her venom first no one says a word until after i respond. when i go on the offensive and take the first shot though, i get called out for bringing up things that hve nothing to do with whatever the current subject may be. just like most representatives of either racial or womens rights movements, it isnt EQUAL rights you are after. it is special treatment, and that becomes more and more obvious with every post that that person makes.

Yes they did. even though i made a comment about casse, in truth i only said that to point out how stupid it sounds when others blame trainers or tracks for accidents that are beyond their control. like blaming a track or its surface for a horses injury when it happens in a stall.
i dont think casse did anything wrong here at all. you say they were pushing him to do something he hadnt previously done? he ran the first quarter 24 2/5th and the half in 49, and was under a choke hold while doing it. he wasnt being pushed or asked to do anything and was never in tight quarters at any point until after he started to break down. did you even watch the race? he was in the clear almost the entire time. also, you know how he felt? are you suddenly miss cleo and can read the horses mind? also in case you happened to notice, the best race of this horses life came when he actually was up close to the pace early in the derby instead of floundering at the back.

You are probably right in your analysis but all I know is that I was watching the race and saw him up close going into the far turn in what looked to be tight quarters where he normally is not, then all of a sudden drop back sharply. I was just half-azz azz-clown seriously joking anyway. lol.
But seriously I know that it was me who really kill him. I picked him as the up and coming dark horse in the Derby and Preakness and in his last unfortunate race also was my top choice, and felt like he might be another Mentor Cane. Remember what happened shortly after I said that MC was going to be a good one too? lol.
