There have been many times that the NY Governor hasn't been at the Belmont Stakes (and not just Cuomo's father, Mario)
In fact, the Governor has traditionally been at Saratoga for the Travers Stakes, but even though it's only 30 miles from Albanay George Pataki didn't go every year. In fact, one year when I was up there Virginia Kelley awarded the Travers trophy.

Who cares about the Travers. This was for the TC and he should have been there period. Stop justifying bad behavior by pointing to other bad behavior. Seems the Govs of Kentucky and Maryland have no problem being at their TC race.

It happens, he's governor of about 20 million people and has LOTS of things to do. Do you know where he was today?
You guys just hate NYRA and Governor Cuomo.
Like I said, this isn't unprecedented, but it's Cuomo and NYRA, so beat the crap out of him.

sorry george, but he deserves it for this one. you know im no democrat for sure, but i thik i give you less shit now a days the others do over politics or the nyra bs. but even you for once can say somethig bad about them, cant you? as much as you say everyone else beats up on nyra no mater what, you defend them no matter what. i agree with you actually in the sense that this group is no worse then the old group. but you defend everythig about them. this fool should have been there for this.

Alan you are so full of it. He should have been there unless the state was under an all out attack or some natural disaster had taken place. If he actually had some more pressing business, doubt it on a Sat, then the Lt Gov should have been there to represent the state. The other 2 Govs also have affairs of state to handle for example the Gov of Maryland was still dealing with the after effects of the rioting and burning of the city of Balitmore and amid reports there might be unrest at the Preakness itself, but they make the TC races or their Lt Govs. do. Just read in the DRF that even Bill Clinton was in attendance yesterday.

Do you people know where Governor Cuomo was yesterday? He was at the Clinton Correctional Facility (Dannemora) where two murderers escaped at 5 AM yesterday morning. www.syracuse.com/crime/index.ssf/2015/06/cuomo_cancels_trip_to_belmont_stakes_heading_to_clinton_prison_following_murdere.htmlCuomo cancels trip to Belmont Stakes; heading to Clinton County prison following murderers' escapeDANNEMORA, N.Y. -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo will not attend the Belmont Stakes today and instead is heading to the Clinton Correctional Facility following the escape of two murderers earlier this morning. Cuomo is scheduled to be at the prison for a briefing at 1:30 p.m. Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34, escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility, a maximum-security prison. Both were unaccounted for at the 5:30 a.m. bed check, state police said. _______________________________________ HAPPY NOW?

Ok he was being briefed at 130 although he was most likely briefed by phone a heck of a lot earlier which is sop. So how long do you think it takes to get a briefing maybe an hr. Still plenty of time to fly to Bel. unless of course he was joining the posse or he's not capable of doing more then 1 thing in a day. So save your capital letters and face it he just didn't want to go. All he had to do was send his Lt. Gov to represent the state and he couldn't even do that.

George - HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE! The trip to the prison wasn't necessary or could have waited until later in the day or he could have flown to Belmont after as there was plenty of time It's a short flight! If you love NY Racing, how can you defend Cuomo's crap (and HIS NYRA)?
