I watched and listened to Chris Kays' interview live on the Mike Francesa show from Belmont. He admitted that they were indeed caught short last year. He was asked why the cutoff at 90k and said they wanted the guest to have a better time this yr as well as addressing safety concern. Ok good so far. He further stated that they didn't run out of food last yr but couldn't figure a way to get the extra supply from the secondary location to the vendors inside. He stated that problem has been addressed and should be fine this yr. Ok another good step. He then address the LIRR debacle and the steps taken to correct it. First the LIRR has renovated the entrance to the platforms which had been the major problem last yr. Secondly the LIRR has expanded the platforms to allow for 2 more cars per train. Third they have rearranged the area for stacking up the extra trains. Well imo that sounds like a very solid change. Finally when asked the big question about what they were going to do after the Belmont is run and the crowd decides to leave like they last yr. He talked about more personnel but mostly he felt more people will stay because of the big concert they are having after the final race. They have the Groupie DOLLS I think that's the name. Big name act as far as I can gather. This may work if and that's a big if the crowd is younger then usual if not this maybe the weak link in overall plan. So now we hope for great and safe racing and a better ending then last yr.
