Strange Things Happen In The Belmont Paulick Repoirt
With the Triple Crown vacant since 1978, it obviously takes a rare combination of horse, connections, and circumstances to pull off one of the most difficult feats in sports.
In addition to the grind of trying to win three races in five weeks, the final leg presents additional challenges — the Belmont surface and layout, the unusual distance on dirt for North American races, and the threat of rested foes trying to vanquish a bid for history.
It adds up to making the Belmont a compelling spectacle, always for the potential result and sometimes for the way the race is run. In this edition of The Friday Show, Scott Jagow and Ray Paulick give some historical perspective on the “Test of the Champion.”
Enjoy this week’s Friday Show.
