Life goes on but thinking of the history, still sad to see this. RIP Hollywood Park, The End Is Here By Ray Paulick It was on life support for nearly a decade and ran its last race in December 2013, but Hollywood Park’s 77-year presence on the Southern California and international horse racing landscape has finally come to end. In the last week, demolition crews have begun to tear down a grandstand that stood proud as the host of the inaugural Breeders’ Cup in 1984 and provided a lifetime of memories for racing fans of all ages. Built by Hollywood moguls and attracting some of the greatest Thoroughbreds (and Standardbreds) in history, along with many of the best-known celebrities the entertainment world has ever known, the Track of Lakes and Flowers changed hands several times over the last 25 years, finally winding up in the hands of developers, the Bay Meadows Land Company, which orchestrated a similar destruction of the Bay Meadows racetrack in San Mateo near San Francisco.

I looked at the place on Google Maps a couple of months ago - they really got in fast and gutted the track area (not the grandstand at that time) It was sad.
In some ways I enjoyed Hollywood Park more than the highly touted Santa Anita. To me it was more of a racetrack, and the viewing angles from the grandstand seemed better to me.
