wow - what a mess - what I don't understand is these kids are burning their own neighborhood - it is primarily a minority neighborhood that has been being rebuilt - and these idiots are burning the new stores and looting - it's not what is "downtown baltimore" which seems to be ok - except for traffic
the balto police f'ed up (as they have been consistently doing) and while i agree this entire situation was caused by them, this kind of lunacy is nuts - o's cancelled tonight's game -
police all over the country are overreacting and making bad decisions - we're going backwards
peace

What's the point of rioting? It accomplishes nothing but misery to business owners and emergency rooms. New Orleans may be the murder capital of the country but when it comes to riots, it's non existent, no matter black on white, white on black, or black on black crimes. It all boils down to loons like Sharpton and Jackson who speak the diarrhea from their mouths and provoke these s to do so.

These are clowns who just wait for the opportunity to loot and destroy. Add the professional agitators and this is what you get. I've saw too much of this in my time in the NYPD. Reminds me of the Brownville riots when then Mayor Lindsey order the police to stand by and allowed the looters to burn the area down.

exactly lt1. stupid people doing stupid things. they dont care about justice. they just want and take every opportunity to to break the laws, steal, nurt other people, and then play the sympathy or race card as a defense for their actions. yes the police may over react in certain situations, but how would you handle theses thugs and hoodlums? they show the law or those enforcing it no respect, yet they wan to cry foul when no one shows them any in return.

im sitting here watching this on the news and im just dumbfounded. first off, is this mayor really as dumb as she sounds? did you hear her describing the way they handled it when it started? in her own words, "by giving the ones whose sole intent was to destroy property a chance to do so". wtf? is she serious?

Cait really the police are responsible for this. Police are overacting really. Here are some facts that might interest you. According to the latest Dept of Justice FBI report (2013) more whites were killed by police then blacks or Latinos. Another fact that in all the arrest made in the country in 2013 only 1% resulted in deaths or serious injury to the alleged perp and of those 1/2 were justified. Hardly seems like a police overreaction to me. And if you were watching yesterdays events the police would have had every right to use deadly force but instead show remarkable restraint during the mall destruction and later the attacks on them by these animals. And let's remember that Baltimore has a Black administration including the police chief and that minorities make up the majority of the police dept. So let's put the blame where it belongs on the animals that looted and destroyed property. And finally congrats to that mom who beat her son for taking part in the rioting. That's what's needed parents controlling their children. Surprise that liberals weren't calling for her arrest for child abuse.

that mom is a star!
lt - yes - during yesterday's mess the police were not initially aggressive - and they should have been. that's not what i meant - i meant that the balto police dept has some really bad apples and that they apparently killed freddy gray which gave the idiots an "excuse" (of course totally unjustified) - it's sad when police are afraid of being accused of police brutality for doing their job - but unfortunately, some of their fellow police are responsible - because they were guilty of brutality - balto has a terrible history of improper conduct - i have great respect for those that dedicate their lives to police work but i'm also very thankful i live in the county, not the city! interesting that the state police are now in charge of dealing with the situation
it's really sad is the "thugs" as the politicians called them were kids - the whole thing was organized via social media, was initially focused on a mall and then escalated -
what was pretty amazing was the area clergy organized a meeting and had the 2 biggest balto ganga attend together and then they all agreed to work together - getting those 2 gangs on the same side was a small miracle
and wiz - you never miss an opportunity to slam racing in md (also ny, ky and so forth) - yeah I know - you're "stating facts" lol - ftr - pimlico is no where near the destruction - you've never been there so of course you know no real facts but yeah, you've seen pictures - lol

how am i slamming the racing? all im saying is that those thugs should be rounded up and thrown into a prison like the one in walking dead..............which resembles the pictures of pimlico racecourse that i have seen. are you going to tell me now that those pictures were photoshopped or something and deny tha thats what the place looked like when they were taken? i could really give two shits about maryland racing as it isnt anything i play or am interested in and other then one day a year, it isnt even a blip on the current racing scene as far as importance goes. KY? am i alone in pointing out all the negative things they have done the last couple years? sorry cait if i actually stick to my guns when i see a state, track, or person being an Ahole or doing a poor job and actually dont bet it and avoid it like i ay im going to do. are you really going to start defending CDI now?

lolololol read the forum -have never defended Churchill - again - you can have your opinions - and i will have mine - a FACT is pimlico's new turf course last year was praised by all - didn't have to cancel any races because it wasn't "ready"
but this is off topic and i have a meeting to get ready for - later - maybe

The Washington Post is reporting tonight that a prisoner who was also in the van with Mr. Gray has told investigators that he heard Gray intentionally hitting himself against the walls of the van in an effort to injure himself. If proven true be prepared to see more destruction in Baltimore. Also responding officers from other police agencies are confirming that a stand down order was issued to the Baltimore P.D. on Monday. I did hear a Sheriff from a neighboring county confirm that the stand down order was given. This is not something that hasn't been done before. Mayors Lindsey and Dinkins both issued stand down orders during civil disorders in NYC. Those 2 I can verify because I was there in both cases. We had to watch as property was being destroyed and store owners pleaded with us to help them.

OK here's an update on the Post report. The prisoner in the van heard but didn't see Gray hitting his head against the van walls. Also this morning Dr Mark Segal a Fox news consultant stated in his opinion Gray could cause injury to his head but couldn't cause the spinal damage done. So we are back to square one until the results of the investigation are released. For those interested Sheriff Lewis of Wicomico County was the one who confirmed that a stand down order was given to the Baltimore P.D. He also said he saw Baltimore officers returning to staging areas in tears and telling out of area officers how sorry they were that those officers had traveled so far to see this happening and how frustrated they were to have to watch their city on fire and told to do nothing. Having been in the same situation twice I understand exactly how they felt.

sorry to all the tree huggers and what not out there, but that is not the way to handle these type of situations. the more you let them get away with, the farther they will push the envelope the next time.

I saw a great clip on the news - a local man saying Baltimore didn't need Al Sharpton and he should go away LOL It wasn't like St Louis. One night but now seems peaceful which is probably due to the many police organizations and the curfew. What a stupid bunch of kids!

That's one smart man. The reason it's peaceful is the out of town police weren't going to stand down and neither was the Guard. That's what the punks fear most law enforcement ready to take them on.
