Good for D Wayne, his filly is just as good as the current crop of 3-YO Colts. Story from Paulick
Champion Take Charge Brandi may take on the boys sooner rather than later as her connections mull a possible start in the G2 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park March 14. Owner Willis Horton told the Blood-Horse on Wednesday that the 1 1/16-mile Rebel, with a purse of $750,000, was now being considered. The daughter of Giant’s Causeway could also run in the $150,000 Honeybee Stakes March 7 instead. “I’ve looked at all the figures and times, and we’re talking about a $750,000 race compared to a purse of $150,000,” Horton told Claire Novak of the Blood-Horse. “Even if we run third, we still get more money than we would if she won the other race.” “If we win the Rebel we get the 50 points for it, and it puts us in a position where we can either go to the Kentucky Oaks or the Kentucky Derby,” Horton added. American Pharoah, the Eclipse Award-winning champion male, is also targeting the Rebel Stakes, which would be his 2015 debut.
