California Chrome Named State's Horse of Year

Eclipse Award Horse of the Year California Chrome was officially named California-bred Horse of the Year for 2014 at the annual California Thoroughbred Breeders Association awards dinner at the Pasadena Westin.
California Chrome distanced finalists Alert Bay and Big Macher in the voting. The chestnut colt earlier was named California-bred champion 3-year-old and turf champion. California Chrome was bred by owners Perry Martin and Steve Coburn.

Sire of California Conceived Foals by Earnings – Lucky Pulpit , owned by Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams.
Sire of California Conceived Foals by Turf Earnings – Unusual Heat, owned by the Unusual Heat Syndicate.
Sire of California Conceived Two-Year-Olds by Earnings – Papa Clem , property of a syndicate.
Sire of California Conceived Foals by Number of Winners – Tribal Rule.
Breeders of California Foaled Thoroughbreds by Earnings – Perry Martin & Steve Coburn.
Trainer of the Year – Art Sherman.
Broodmare of the Year – Love the Chase, owned by Perry Martin & Steve Coburn.
California-bred Two-Year-Old Female – My Fiona, bred by Terry Lovingier.
California-bred Two-Year-Old Male – Acceptance, bred by Old English Rancho.
California-bred Three-Year-Old Female – Rovenna, bred by Donald Dizney.
Champion California-bred Three-Year-Old Male – California Chrome, bred by Perry Martin & Steve Coburn.
Champion California-bred Older Male – Big Macher, bred by Ballena Vista Farm.
California-bred Older Female – Top Kisser, bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds.
Champion California-bred Turf Horse – California Chrome, bred by Perry Martin & Steve Coburn.
Champion California-bred Sprinter – Big Macher, bred by Ballena Vista Farm.
Sen. Ken Maddy Award – Sen. Andy Vidak.
Also at the dinner, trainer Bruce Headley and stallion Bertrando were inducted into the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Hall of Fame.
