The mfg wants horses to fie before they pull this product? Ridiculous Suspected Feed Contamination Case Expands Into Third State Paulick Report The case of suspected feed contamination that has been reported in South Carolina and Georgia may have now spread to Alabama, according a a Rate My Horse Pro report. Eventer Andrew Palmer is the third farm owner in as many states whose ADM Alliance Nutrition feed has tested positive for monensin. Palmer submitted samples of his feed, purchased last week, to a diagnostic laboratory after reading reports of contaminated feed from the same company in Georgia. After being told that the company had not detected any manufacturing issues, Palmer submitted a complaint to the Food and Drug Administration. He is awaiting the results of blood tests on his horses to determine whether they are likely to be affected by monensin exposure. Monensin was also involved in a confirmed case of contaminated feed in Florida from a different company. The substance is a common additive in cattle feed, where it improves efficiency. It is highly toxic to horses and there is no safe level for it in equine feed, per the FDA. The company said it has not pulled its product from the shelves because there is no credible evidence linking deaths or illnesses to the product.
