Push to Legalize Horse Racing on Horizon Again in Georgia Paulick Report It’s a campaign that spans over 20 years, and as 2015 approaches, supporters of horse racing are once again gearing up to push for the legalization of pari-mutuel wagering in Georgia. As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, racing advocates believe that “the time may be right” to finally succeed in passing legislation that would allow racing in the state. Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, who has said in the past that he would not support any attempt to legalize pari-mutuel wagering, has most likely been reelected to his last term in office. According to the Journal-Constitution, many racing advocates now feel that the governor would no longer stand in the way of an expanded gambling push.
