Revolutionary retired to stud at WinStar

Multiple graded stakes-winning millionaire Revolutionary has been retired and will stand the 2015 breeding season at WinStar Farm in Versailles, Kentucky.
Revolutionary's stud fee has been set at $7,500 stands & nurses, and he will participate in WinStar's Dream Big Program, which offers breeders the opportunity to earn a lifetime breeding right in Revolutionary after producing just two live foals from his first books.
"Revolutionary has the talent, class, looks, and pedigree to be any kind of sire, and he'll get every advantage that other successful homebreds like Distorted Humor and Super Saver have gotten in their respective stallion careers," said Elliott Walden, WinStar President & CEO. "It is very rare that you can take a great conformation photo of a stallion prospect while he's still in training, but Revolutionary is the exception.
"His great looks and strong female family are big reasons why we already have several of our own mares committed to his first book. He's a fantastic opportunity in our Dream Big Program, which has been very popular with our breeders. Last year, we booked Overanalyze very quickly on the Dream Big Program, and we anticipate Revolutionary will be just as well-received."
Trained by Todd Pletcher, Revolutionary concluded his juvenile season with an 8 1/2-length maiden special weight score at Aqueduct. He made his stakes and three-year-old debut a winning one with dramatic flair, overcoming extreme trouble to capture the Grade 3 Withers in early January.
Revolutionary established himself as a top Kentucky Derby contender in the Grade 2, $1 million Louisiana Derby, shrugging off a wide trip to post a fast-finishing neck victory. Among those left in his wake that afternoon was eventual Belmont Stakes hero Palace Malice.
Sent off the 6-1 second choice in the Kentucky Derby, Revolutionary was bumped hard at the start and forced to check in traffic on the far turn before unleashing his customary late rally to be a good third behind Orb. He made only one more start in 2013, a fifth in the Belmont, before being freshened in advance of a four-year-old campaign.
In 2014, Revolutionary returned at Gulfstream Park with a handy win over next-out Grade 2 winner Falling Sky in an one-mile allowance/optional claiming event. He again faced trouble in a runner-up performance in the Grade 2 Oaklawn H., falling just three-quarters of a length short to champion Will Take Charge after a long steward's inquiry. Revolutionary rebounded in his next start with an electrifying win in the Grade 3 Pimlico Special on Preakness weekend, registering a career-best 112 BRIS Speed rating after closing from 30+ lengths off the pace during the early stages.
He concluded his racing career with a sixth in the Stephen Foster H. at Churchill Downs in June.
Revolutionary retires with a career record of 13-5-2-3, competing at distances from 5 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/2 miles, and earnings of $1,353,125. Campaigned by WinStar, the striking dark bay colt represents the best racehorse by the late champion War Pass and hails from the Grade 1-winning A.P. Indy mare Runup the Colors, who captured the prestigious Alabama at Saratoga.
Bred by W. S. Farish, the female family represents one of the top Farish families, with a dozen blacktype winners within the first two dams including Horse of the Year Mineshaft. Similar to Super Saver, the family traces back to one of the best Phipps families, including the direct family of breed-shaping mare La Troienne.
