your post is so ignorant I shouldn't even respond to it, as I haven't been for a while. but lets just see here. do you even know what the term bloated means? were not talking field size here. were talking bloated purses.
in a four horse field in this race, you had two of the best female sprinters in the country over the last two years. can you argue that? not one, running against three or four other terribly outclassed horses like the ny filly and mare races last year, but two in a competitive looking race.
these two horses have competed in breeders cup races and been very competitive. they are top fillies.
now these two have lined up in a race with a purse of $150,000. is that a big purse? is that bloated? are these horses not worth running for that amount?
you have rat maidens and first time starters running at Saratoga and Belmont for purses of $100,000!! do you really think those horses deserve to be running for a purse 2/3rds the size of breeders cup horses in a maiden race? those are bloated purses.
you want a real example of a bloated purse? how about a race like the Belmont oaks stakes on july 5th. a grade 1? even though its never been run before? with a million dollar purse? now lets look and see how these horses who ran for a million dolaars have fared coming out of that race in their next starts? take a look. tell me if those horses are million dollar race kind of horses?
minorette- last in next start in a 300k race at 8/5 xcellence- next to last in next start in a 300k race at 2/1 sea queen- 4th at 7/5 in next start in a 300k race. summer solo- hasn't run. wonderfully- 8th at 5/2 in next start in a 90k race goldy espony- hasn't run. room service- hasn't run. flying jib- returned overseas to run 5th. Rosalind- hasn't run. recepta- hasn't run.
this is the epitome of a bloated purse race. not one horse has returned to run well in races from coast to coast with far lower purses. I wonder why that is? possibly because they should have never been in a race worth that much to begin with? but when you run at the nyra tracks (and others with bloated casino money purses) the horses are not nearly as good as some people WANT to believe. just because the purses are high does not mean the horses are better. but some cant seem to get that through their heads. Saratoga and Belmont have the highest purses in the land for maidens, but yet its the horses who compete in ca. and florida who win the majority of the tc preps every year, other then the ones held in new York or the ones for new York breds only. why is that? im not sayingnew York horses are horrible or non competitive by any means. but you want to act as if they are the end all be all. that race at del mar wan not a bloated purse in any way. a small field? yes. a bloated purse. no.
now my question is, what was the point of this post? was it because you really don't know what a bloated purse is, or was it to instigate me into responding even though I have made it clear I have no interest in doing so? do I need to clear up anything else in my one response before I retire to the contest threads again?
