HELTER-SKELTER: CHAOS REIGNS (ONCE AGAIN) IN FRENCH AMATEUR STEEPLECHASE Paulick Report
Less than two weeks after a steeplechase at Castera-Verduzan turned into total chaos, yet another amateur steeplechase – this time at Saint-Pierre-la-Cour – has caused mayhem for all involved.
As the Racing Post reports, the action took place on Sunday, July 20. What started out with 10 horses and riders competing on a tight, figure-eight style course, ended with just three horses crossing the finish line. What happened in-between was quite a sight to behold.
The confusion began when two loose horses forced the leading horse and rider to suddenly take up and veer off-course. However, the remaining horses and riders continued on, but were now running in the opposite direction of just a few moments earlier. Further craziness ensues as course officials have to scramble to move vehicles out of the way from oncoming horse
