Anybody here think Jessica's Star has a shot? And hey CC's East Hall is here.

NORTH RANDALL, Ohio – Almost Famous with famed jockey Calvin Borel in the saddle was installed as the 7-2 morning line choice among a surprisingly large field of a dozen three-year-old thoroughbreds in Saturday's 80th Ohio Derby at ThistleDown Racino.
"I couldn't be happier with the size of the field and the level of the competition," said Racing Secretary Patrick Ellsworth after Wednesday's draw for post positions. "The quality of the field is much improved over previous years and this is the largest Ohio Derby field in more than 15 years.'
Ellsworth said he was trying to create a well-balanced field, as well.
"I think this year's Ohio Derby is anyone's race," he said. Proof is that morning line favorite Almost Famous is a rather tame 7-2 top choice as the Unbridled's Song colt goes after his second win in six outings this year.
The track's $300,000 signature race attracted one Triple Crown competitor – Harry's Holiday, a 16th place finisher in the Kentucky Derby - and only one Ohio-bred, the dark brown colt Mushu trained by popular local trainer Tony Rini. But it did lure a crowd of entries that range from Larcenyinmyheart, owned by the Loooch Racing Stable of Stow, Ohio, to Jessica's Star, the 4-1 morning line second choice that won the $250,000 Iowa Derby on June 28.
Sprint star Larcenyinmyheart drew the No.1 post for the 1 1/16-mile stakes race. To his outside are Brothersofthetime, Bump Start, Almost Famous, Harry's Holiday, Russellin, Cleburne, Avgolemono, Jessica's Star, Mushu, Saa Mi and East Hall.
Missing from the field is the filly Ria Antonia, winner of the $2 million Breeders' Cup juvenile filly stakes from the Loooch Racing Stable. Owner Ron Paolucci had been prepping the talented filly for the Ohio Derby since a poor performance in the Preakness Stakes.
"I had Jacob Radosevich ride Ria Antonia in a workout at Churchill Downs this week, and she came up coughing," said Paolucci. "The plan was for her to race at ThistleDown, but we couldn't ship her if she was sick."
Paolucci instead entered Larcenyinmyheart, a Cable Boy colt that has won four in a row at ThistleDown, all sprint races. The Ohio Derby is a distance test.
"Larcenyinmyheart is the best horse on the Thistledown grounds right now," said Paolucci. "He's got a lot of speed, and since the day we got him we've wanted him in distance races. Unfortunately, they don't write too many distance races at ThistleDown."
Almost Famous and Borel are expected to duke it out with Larcenyinmyheart, ridden by Scott Spieth, for the early lead. Paolucci hope he does. Paolucci is still upset with Borel's performance aboard his Ria Antonia in the Preakness.
"Borel did the exact opposite of what I asked him to do in the Preakness with Ria Antonia," he said. "I hope Borel takes Almost Famous right to the front, because he can't run early with Larceny."
Almost Famous got the nod as the morning line favorite after a third-place finish behind winner Tapiture in the $100,000 Matt Winn Stakes at Churchill Downs on June 14, following a strong victory in an allowance race. Owned by Chuck and Maribeth Sandford of Marengo, Ill., and trained by Patrick Byrne, Almost Famous won two of three outings as a two-year-old, and finished fourth in the $400,000 Holy Bull Stakes on Jan. 25 at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida.
If it should rain on Saturday, look for bettors to favor Jessica's Star. The brown gelding owned by Mark Breen of Cave Creek, Arizona and trained by Michael Stidham won $75,000 Prairie Meadows Stakes at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa on a muddy track on May 31, then came back to win the Iowa Derby at Prairie Meadows on June 28 on a sloppy surface.
Jessica's Star has won four of six starts this season, his first at the races, including his last three in a row. David Mello will be in the saddle.
