wiz, unfortunately some states (or provinces) are separating the racing from the casinos, even if they're in the same facility. It think that is what CDI is counting on. When racing becomes so unprofitable they'll as the legislatures to allow them to get out of the racing business. As it is, if the Gulfstream/Calder agreement goes through, Calder will be down from about 150 racing days to just 40. But their slots will be spinning 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. And they won't have to use much of their slots profits to add to purses.

Ah, good ol' Andy Asaro (aka Andy Mays from TVG days) Seems he devotes more time to denigrate racing than to support it.

just reporting the facts sir!! sometimes the truth needs to be told, even if it isn't what you want to hear. maybe if enough people see what they are doing in Kentucky things will change.

Honestly, the cards after their big weekend have been terrible, A lot of small fields and not so great races. The boycott isn't totally responsible for the drop - the crummy racing is!

did you get a job working in the PR department at CDI ev? why do you think the racing is crummy? a lot of people and horsemen are fed up with them and not running there either.

Wiz - Again - I don't understand your post? What usually present horsemen aren't there? I think we agree that aside from the boycott, regular people, not the pros, aren't betting Churchill

I was being facetious. It seemed almost like they were discouraging betting to get below the level that would allow them to raise the takeout in the spring. Figured maybe that's why they're doing little to encourage betting now.

there were more than a few people who were thinking that was the overall plan I forgot the specifics but when the wagering fell below a certain level they received some sort of tax break and were able to raise takeout so for the corporation and the shareholders it was a win-win for them
