02/22/2013
Lava Man, the popular gelding who won six Grade I races and more than $5.2 million after being claimed by trainer Doug O'Neill for $50,000, will make a special appearance during Saturday's Breakfast at Gulfstream at Gulfstream Park.\
Lava Man, who now serves as stable pony to the stars in the O'Neill stable, including last year's Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness Stakes (G1) winner I'll Have Another, accompanied O'Neill's He's Had Enough from California to Gulfstream earlier this week. He's Had Enough is entered in Saturday's $400,000 Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth (G2).
Lava Man, who won Grade I races on both turf and dirt and captured three Hollywood Gold Cups, two Santa Anita Handicaps and a Pacific Classic, will accompany He's Had Enough to the track early Saturday morning before making a special appearance during Breakfast at Gulfstream at approximately 8 a.m.
Breakfast at Gulfstream, hosted by Sandy Bruno, runs from 7-10 a.m. through March 30. Admission and parking are free. Those buying the all-you-can-eat $8 buffet receive a free Breakfast at Gulfstream t-shirt. Free barn tours begin at approximately 9 a.m.
Gulfstream will also host a free handicapping seminar Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Daily Racing Form's national handicapper and columnist Mike Watchmaker. The seminar will take place in Sport of Kings on the second floor and will be hosted by Ron Nicoletti. Refreshments will be served.
