My - what an "interesting event" LOL
Barrage of underwear rains down on minor-league hockey game FOX Sports
We're used to hats being thrown on the ice during a hockey game. That makes sense, hats for a hat trick.
But the ice in Bakersfield, Calif., was covered with a very different type of clothing over the weekend: underwear.
Dubbed "Undie Sunday," fans of the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL littered the ice with underwear, socks, diapers and bras.
No, it wasn't a rock concert.
It was actually an orchestrated charity event.
According to the Bakersfield Condors:
Undie Sunday brought a rain of underwear, socks, bras, diapers and socks down onto the ice. Nearly 6,000 clothing items were collected, including 1,096 pairs of socks, 2,773 pair of underwear, 1,747 diapers and 55 bras, among other items. The items will be donated to the Mission at Kern County and the Kern County Network for Children.
The fans didn't have to wait for a real hat-trick either, they went by "Teddy Bear Toss" rules. That means that a goal needed to be scored before the fans tossed their undergarments from the stands. And that didn't happen until there was 1:02 left on the clock.
Good thing those diapers were clean ones.
