CHAMPION sprinter Black Caviar has won again - this time as a celebrated member of the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.
The world's best galloper, winner of all her 23 starts, has joined Cox Plate hero Sunline as the only galloper inducted into the elite of the sport while still racing.
Trainer Peter Moody declared her a worthy entrant.
Win a share in a racehorse: Hurry closes soon
"She is unbeaten and I doubt anyone would disagree with this honour," he said.
The six-year-old mare, who won her 13th Group 1 race last Saturday at Flemington, joins the likes of Phar Lap, Carbine, Bernborough, Tulloch and Makybe Diva in racing's most-exalted stable.
Her next challenge is to become a Legend, an honour bestowed last night on Carbine, who carried a record 66kg to victory in the 1890 Melbourne Cup among his dazzling wins.
Phar Lap and Makybe Diva also have Legend status, but the impact Black Caviar has had on Australian and international racing will make her a prime candidate, too.
Moody said no honour was too great for the mare - who holds the Australian record for the longest winning streak - and who will attempt to join Kingston Town at the top of the Group 1 pole with her 14th success in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley next month.
"She has proven herself against every galloper she has met in Australia, and in the UK. She has nothing to prove. She is simply the best," Moody said.
Black Caviar's feats have earned her a host of national and international honours. In 2011 and 2012 she was Australian horse of the year.
She won the World Champion Sprinter Award in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Her 23 consecutive wins constitute a world record for horses of the modern age competing at the elite level.
Racing Victoria's handicapper Greg Carpenter summed her up: "The greatest sprinter and the greatest female equine athlete world racing has seen in the modern era."
Caviar's elevation is a feather in the cap for Victorian racing. She is the product of local stallion Bel Esprit, and was sold at the Inglis Premier sales for $210,000. She has won $7,104,936.
