All thou I have never met her I called Ms Marlene Colvin the owner of 2x MN HOY Heliskier in South Dakota this A.M., I asked if she wouldn't mind sharing w/ me how her star ( At least in MN) colt was doing hoping to find out when he'd be racing next. She said " 1st his name is pronounced HELI-Skier,he was named after her nephew who would come to the family 30 acre farm to help out & that had an interest in Helicopter drop off skiing. She talked about the bitter sweet success she feels about what many feel is the best MN racing thoroughbred ever, her husband Bun bred & broke their horse & passed away before he could witness what he stated to Marlene was " going to be a real good one" Marlene talked about how she found out about what a bridge jumper was based on that $100,000's of thousands that were wagered on her horse by a gentlemen on a couple occasions. we talked for nearly a half hour discussing her horse & that he wintered in MN nicely & shipped to Oaklawn in December under the care of trainer Mac Robertson, She went on to say Mac called the other day & said Heliskier is doing real well & is looking to place him in a race if the conditions are right some time before the end of the Oaklawn live meet, she also stated Heliskier would return to CBY to defend his title in the 10,000 lakes Stakes @ CBY when the track opens in may if everythings a go. We ended our conversation by Marlene righting down my name, thanking me for calling & to look her up @ the PARK if I get down to CBY when Heliskier is racing & feel free to call again. What a wonder person, she made me feel like I was the Neighbor. Made my day.
