Looking through the list of previous winners its difficult to realize that this is the same race. My how the status and quality of the Gotham has fallen.

Speed ruled all day. The closers had NO shot. Three horses battled on the front end the entire race and none of them backed up. If you bet on a closer in this race do not lose faith in your selection. Financial Mogul finished 4th which considering the speed bias was pretty much expected. Look for Harpoon and Financial at the Fair Grounds or Oaklawn to try to get enough points to get into the KY Derby. WELL I HATED BOTH OF THERM BEFORE, SO I GUESS I WILL GO ALONG WITH YOU AND NOT CHANGE MY OPINION. I DONT THINK EITHER ONE OF THEM CAN RUN A LICK COMPARED TO THE GOOD HORSES.

The #2 horse had never run furtrher than 6 furlongs and he was still in it at the wire. That alone tells me the top two finishers will wilt in the stretch in the KY Derby. This was a field of 2nd stringers running today. The real contenders for the Derby will be running in the Fla Derby, La Derby, and Arkansas Derby.

I still think uncle sigh was the best. I watched the race without sound, was it a stewards inquiry or objection? They were all so close..it looked like the 2 squeezed the 4.

I'm not expecting much from the three year olds stabled in Southern California. The TVG talking heads are about as Pro West coast as you can get and none of them are currently on the band wagon of a Cali based three year old. This would probably be a good year for owners/trainers from the East to ship their Ky Derby hopefull's to Santa Anita and take a shot at some Derby qualifying points and some good purse money.

There were no KD winners in today's race. Some good horses ( top two in particular), who will win some stakes later this year. Who knows, one may clean up in the NYB races!

Agree 100% George. The top three finishers would be best suited staying in NY and making some good purse money. All three of these horses would wilt miserably in the stretch in the KY Derby.

gf I will disagree with you and leave it at that. as I said 3 months ago and stand by today, the most impressive 2 yr old ive seen last year was shared belief, but he is out. and I said at the time he won the Hollywood futurity that I thought the runner up, candy boy would win the derby. I still believe that. and my second pick has been Bayern as soon as I saw his maiden win. I will take those two against anyone in he country right now.
