Here we are, awaiting our weekly snowstorm, wondering how much it will be this time. Where we are in Connecticut, we're always near the changeover line. South of us gets less, north of us more - they're saying anywhere from 3-10", with some rain toward the end. Anyway, stuck in the house again so I figured I'd follow up my tote ticket post with some of old racing programs. The first one is from New England - 3 County Fair is in Northampton, just north of Springfield, MA. They used to be part of the Massachusetts fair circuit (Northampton, Marshfield Fair, Great Barrington Fair, Weymouth Fair, Brockton Fair and Berkshire Downs) - all are gone now. Interesting story from ESPN about the fair circuit: sports.espn.go.com/sports/horse/columns/story?id=2267707Green Mountain is in the southwest corner of Vermont. Surprisingly, although they haven't run anything there in about 30 years (greyhounds), or horses since the 1970s, the Green Mountain grandstand is still there! Narragansett was outside Providence, Rhode Island.
