Wow, Groupie Doll just ran an amazing race. I give all the credit to her Trainer Buff Bradley, he always does what's right for the Horse. Also cheers to Mandy Pope for not changing anything and bringing her back to the races. I hope she races at least one more time, racing needs her..... Pres

I'm so happy for her! She was 10 lengths behind after a bad start but she circled the field and blew by them all! I don't care if it wasn't a great field. She won easily and looks great
Congrats to GD, Mandy Pope and Bill Bradley, an excellent trainer. They all deserved this!

If you are going out that's the way you do it. I had a few jitters after the start but she just put it on cruise control and rolled on home. I will wait for the bashers to say the field wasn't stellar but she beat the ones that lined up against her. Have a great retirement Groupie Doll

Two-time Champion Female Sprinter Groupie Doll closed out her racing career in spectacular fashion in the 17th running of the Grade 3 $200,000 Hurricane Bertie at Gulfstream Park on Sunday.
Jamaican Smoke set an early pace with splits of :22.27 and :45.16. Five Star Momma and Wildcat Lily settled just off the leader. Groupie Doll, with Rajiv Maragh aboard, got off to a slow start and trailed the field by as much a 10 lengths through the back stretch. She picked off rivals in the turn with a five-wide trip and opened up into the lane to win by more than six lengths over Five Star Momma. Wildcat Lily finished third.
The final running time for the 6 1/2 furlongs was 1:14.68, less than 1/5 of a second short of the track record.
The 6-year-old daughter of Bowman’s Band, out of the Silver Deputy dam Deputy Doll, was bred in Kentucky by Fred and trainer Buff Bradley. She was purchased by Mandy Pope for $3.1 million last November and campaigned under Whisper Hill Farm LLC.
Groupie Doll is already set to begin her new career as a broodmare for Pope’s breeding operation. She is scheduled to ship to Kentucky soon where she will be bred to Tapit.
Raised and trained by Buff Bradley, Groupie Doll ends her career with a lifetime record of 12 wins, four seconds and four thirds from 23 starts and earnings of more than $2.6 million.
