......and most of the writers are east coast based. that's a shocker, isn't it? DRF has always had an east coast bias in their writers. Of course DRF favors Eastern tracks. They're in the business of promoting the sport and their publications. Anyone who looks at a map of North American racetracks would see that maybe about 75% of the major tracks are in the eastern half of the country. But they also have a bias for major tracks that are currently running, too. Look at their homepage today. There are 11 articles on today's DRF home page - three are about Santa Anita*, four are about Gulfstream Park*, one is about the cancellations today, one is about the new racing show on Sunday (come to think of it, that's FIVE about Gulfstream Park), the last two are about Monmouth Park's stakes schedule and the Kentucky Derby Future wager. *maybe they have a Magna bias? This is typical of the winter months - the highlight is on Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita. Things will change as the year wears on. But again, can one fault DRF for seemingly having a "bias" toward the eastern part of the continent? Take a look at this map: www.tmeter.com/racetrackmap.htmlOther than the northern California fair circuit, the majority of the tracks in the US are in the eastern half of the country (this map isn't accurate, I think it's missing a couple of New Mexico tracks) I wasn't arguing any of that George. that's what I said. there IS an obvious east coast bias by most of the turf writers and there always has been.

Writers are assigned to cover certain tracks. Of course there are more in the East.
Back to the thread - it's a full field I(see Donn board). Will WTC win or does he need a race?

As I stated in the opening sentence I was wrong, Will Take Charge ran a very nice race. Lea got the jump on him and WTC did need this race...the Pletcher Horse ran well huh....LMAO. I just wish others would admit when they were wrong, it's really not that hard to do.....
Congrats again to Cappernick ice-cold 1/2 finish....

It took a monster race in track record time for Lea to beat the champ. WTC just had too much to do and too little time to do it in late. Probably needed the race anyway. This year's Handicap Division is definitely starting out strong.
Maybe onto the Big Cap next for WTC???
We'll see.

But he DID finish on the board, saving exacta bettors. You may be prophetic - considering his race in the Clark last year, Game on Dude's race yesterday, the Santa Anita Handicap may be his next race. Wonder what the weights will be? PS - good to see you Shoot....

I could easily see The Coach shipping WTC back to SA considering how well he ran on that track in the Classic. Stretch out in distance would also be a distinct advantage. I suspect however that he would be top-weighted and if I were to take a guess I'd guess maybe 128.
