HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Trainer Bill Mott was still scratching his head a bit Sunday trying to figure out Flat Out's disappointing fourth-place finish as the 2-1 favorite in the Donn Handicap. Flat Out was never a serious factor, finishing more than eight lengths behind Graydar in his first start since the Breeders' Cup Classic. "He came back good, licked his plate clean last night, jogged fine," Mott said. "He didn't run well over this track last year either. Does the track make that much difference, I don't know. But the one thing I'll probably try to avoid would be running him over this track again." Mott also said it's unlikely Cigar Street, an impressive allowance winner here earlier in the meet, would come back in the Gulfstream Park Handicap on March 9. "We've given him some time off after his first start and nominated him for a couple of stakes around," Mott said. "As for the Gulfstream Park Handicap, I liked that race a lot better when it was a mile and one-quarter instead of a mile." www.drf.com/news/gulfstream-park-flat-out-puzzles-mott

Flat Out will be fine - if he stays and races in NY only!
