Good to see Rodrigo Aceves back again after his injury. He won the last race last night in the 8th race, his first back since being injured in October. On a discouraging note, this is the second weekend with only 8 races per card. I thought last weekend might have been caused by the holidays. Hopefully they can pick things up as the season goes on. wiz, I was checking the schedule for the next few weeks at Los Alamitos (when the closings will be due to the track upgrade), and found this picture. Is "the dungeon" the room below the balcony right behind the horse's head in this picture?

my god that must be an old picture. from the 70's? its hard to see but I think so. tha stands filled with people (that hasn't been the case for at least 20 years) I believe is the old clubhose seating they tore out when they built the vessels club.

Interesting - I never realized there were seats there, probably before my time (I started going to Los Alamitos semi-regularly, ~ 6 times a year, in 1998) But when I saw that picture I figured the room you were talking about was right in that area.
Although it (and racing) hadn't really started its steep decline yet, I still never saw a crowd like that at Los Alamitos. Have you seen the promotional video they run between races? Surely that is a staged crowd!

no during the 70's and 80's they had crowds of 10-15 thousand there some nights during the orange county fair meet and on champion of champion nights.
