Who says you need big Purses to have a nice handle only over a 8 race card. On Monday, Beulah had a 8 race card with total purse money of only 29,700
On track: $9,051 Off Track: $1,023,798
Tuesday another 8 race card with total purse money of only $ 33,600
On track: $14,563 Off Track: $1,047,525
So for two consecutive days Beulah had over $1 million dollars in off track wagering. Pretty good numbers for a Track with very small purses. So maybe bigger isn't better after all. ;D

Beulah Park's handle was up only because there was no other competition and people have to gamble.
A week ago yesterday, with Parx and Finger Lakes running, their handle was about $530,000 - half of what they had yesterday.
The last time Beulah Park raced on a weekend, Saturday December 7 (the busiest racing day of the week for all tracks) their handle was a whopping $230,000!!! That's because there were decent tracks running at the same time
Obviously, when there is a choice between quality racing and the cheapest racing in the country, bettors choose the quality racing.

George: This is your opinion. But FACTS are FACTS people wagered over $1 million on those races Monday & Tuesday. The bettors could chose NOT to bet the so called cheaper racing, yet they did. What is your agenda in posting all those other numbers that had NOTHING to do with this topic. You have a pattern of taking MY topics all over the map don't you?? Pres

One more note "people have to gamble" who says people MUST gamble. It's sounding like the Cash Call thread.
NO one forces anyone to bet Beulah,Charlestown,Aqu,Gulfstream. People choose to do this for fun or to earn some money. It's always someone forcing people to do something they don't want to do.

My response was not off topic. It clarified the reasons for the unusually high handle yesterday and the day before at Beulah Park, and put those two days' handles into perspective.

Your comments were and are off topic. My topic was Beulah's handle on Monday and Tuesday ONLY. Why are you throwing cold water on another one of my topics? WHY?? Sure you're allowed to comment on the topic, not your own twisted agenda.
