#1009-this Galileo colt might be for resale, might be kept to race, says Patrick Lawley-Wakelin after buying the colt by the champion Coolmore sire and from the family of Artiste Royal, Arcangues and Aquarelliste for 300,000gns. "We may come back here," he said, "but we've been trying to buy a Galileo for a long time. You can beat this page, and if we race and are successful he has a super stallion's page.

in a three-way battle for the Galileo ex Saoire between Tom Goff, Jim Bolger and peter Maloney, Goff emerged triumphant at 325,000gns. Sold by The Castlebridge Consignment, the colt is the sixth foal out of the Irish 1,000 Guineas winner, the dam of three winners, including the group 3 placed Requisition. (18:52)

Thanks for the updates King! No doubt Galileo is the World's Greatest Stallion just like his daddy was during his days at stud. So glad we have one of his sons standing at stud here in the US. Any updates on him btw? I know his first crop of foals will be headed for the sales ring in 2014. Very encouraging to know that he has been very well supported by American Breeders. He was last year's leading stallion in # of mares bred. Great photos of Goldi and the little guy Ev Any word if she is in foal now and if so to whom? I'd love to see her bred to Motivator in light of the success that the cross between he and Anabaa has produced with the great Queen of Racing, Treve.

SHE WENT BACK TO GALILEO Alain and Gerard Wertheimer's homebred champion Goldikova, the sole three-time Breeders' Cup winner, produced her first foal, a colt by leading sire Galileo, Sunday, Feb. 3, at Coolmore Stud in Ireland, according to Coolmore's Facebook page. The 8-year-old mare (Anabaa—Born Gold, by Blushing Groom) will be bred back to Galileo, who stands at Coolmore. North American Jockey Club statistics for the 2013 breeding season show Into Mischief was the busiest stallion covering 210 mares. Into Mischief (Harlan’s Holiday) stands at Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky. He covered just 50 mares last year but his popularity spiked after siring first crop stakes winners Goldencents, Sittin At The Bar and Vyjack. CashCall Futurity winner Into Mischief is also a half-brother to last season’s US champion juvenile filly Beholder (Henny Hughes) who has added three Group 1 wins to her tally this year. His sire Harlan’s Holiday had the second largest book with 187 mares covered at WinStar Farm. Spendthrift Farm’s Archarcharch also had a book of 187. His first crop are foals. Kitten’s Joy covered 184 mares earlier this year. He has been in sparkling form this year supplying the Group 1 winners Admiral Kitten, Big Blue Kitten, Kitten’s Dumplings, Real Solution and Stephanie’s Kitten. Ashford Stud resident Majestic Warrior, whose first crop yielded this season’s four-time Group1 winning three-year-old filly Princess Of Sylmar, covered 176 mares. Ashford’s Irish Derby winner Cape Blanco, who was North America’s busiest stallion with 220 covers in 2012, was visited by 141 mares this year.Overall, the North American Jockey Clun reported that 1,698 stallions covered 34,174 mares. The number of mares bred was 3.4% down compared to last year.

It really was a no-brainer," said Ferguson outside the packed sales ring and having bought Dancing Rain on one bid of four million. The others who took the bidding along, after it opened at two million, were Badgers Bloodstock, Ibrahim Araci and his daughter and David Minton. All were standing or sitting to the left of the rostrum, with Ferguson standing in the gangway. "Sheikh Mohammed has not bought a lot of mares in the recent years, but at the end of the day Sheikh Mohammed felt that, to use the old phrase, she really did tick all the boxes - she is an Oaks winner from the family of a Derby winner. "This game is all about reducing the odds and give you the greatest chance of producing a Classic winner - buying Dancing Rain is a way of reducing those odds. "You can have lots of mares, but you need the jewels - Sheikh Mohammed felt that she is a jewel. "On paper she looks the part, but there were two things in particularly that I loved about her. First, she is such a beautiful mare, then second Ihad supper with William and Maureen Haggas at the weekend and they told me what a straightforward pleasure she was to train. "And we haven't even got to the fact that she is in-foal to Frankel!" A clearly emotional Liam Norris of Clairemont Stud said: "It is wonderful. She was bought as a yearling and to bring her here and with all these people here to see her.... "Of course, we'll be sorry to see her go, but there are obviously monetary decisions that have to be made - there is just too much tied up in one horse. The team has done a great job and she couldn't have gone to a better home. She really steals hearts."
