BLACK Caviar is the champion of old. That's the report from jockey Luke Nolen, who worked the world's highest-rated sprinter at Caulfield yesterday morning. "Everyone who works with her has given their endorsement," Nolen said of the mare, undefeated in 22 races. "The message is that she's the Black Caviar of old." Black Caviar, who bolted in a jumpout at Sandown last Tuesday, worked impressively without being extended. "She's tightened up a bit since the jumpout," Nolen said. "There's still improvement to come and her work at Caulfield on Saturday will tighten her up again." Black Caviar will have an exhibition gallop between races two and three as a further step to her comeback in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on February 16. Black Caviar has paraded on race day before, but never galloped. Nolen, however, echoed the warning of trainer Peter Moody. "We've been protective of her record this far and if there was any issue or she showed she didn't want to be here, she'd be retired," Nolen said. "But at this stage it's full steam ahead." www.news.com.au/sport/superracing/jockey-luke-nolen-says-black-caviar-back-to-her-best-after-caulfield-workout/story-fndprusm-1226564572395
