thursday, is the traditional opening day at FG. this year should be an exciting, but a different feel. LA natives corey lanerie and robbie alborado will be taking it to the beaches of south florida for the GP meet. i think its a smart move for corey, but business wise too. he has been a hot rider since winning the CD spring meet and has been doing very well on the ky circuit all year. its great to see him get some run because he is a really nice jock and most importantly a great man in person. corey is not one of those guys who will get into trouble off the track either. his decision on going down there was to get a bigger oppurtunity to finally ride a derby horse on the 1st saturday in may. if any jockey deserves it, its him. romans and kenealy will be his main clients, but as time goes on, he will get others. as for robbie, i really think this is his last chance to clean up his act and the change of venue is a start in the right direction. i dont know who he will ride for, but his name itself should get him some mounts. both of these guys wont pull a calvin borel and win 2 races or whichever it was, and come back to FG (in calvin's case, OP) and start again. no, this wont happen. best of luck to both of them this year at GP. now, as far as the FG is concerned, rosie likely will win her 3rd straight riding title, barring any unforeseen events. they have some pretty good riders here and still, she has her work cut out and rosie is not the one to take anything for granted. ky guys asmussen, maker, stall, and jones will give her horses all winter. look for goncalves to ride for famous amoss, since he gave tampa the finger. leondro i think has some work cut out for him and since these LA riders primarily are a clique and they may not give him any room for error. stall has some really nice 2 year olds and i cant wait to get a first look at Sign when she arrives. oh, and one more thing, this site has plenty of potential of being a great forum, so lets all try to work together on keeping it that way. thanks for accepting me into this forum . cheers Monti
