I don't play Australia as much as Jon and Cait. I don't recognize the name but what a tragedy. Whenever jockeys die in racing related incidents, it's very sobering and reminds us just how dangerous their job is. Mrs. Gill apparently was totally committed to horse racing. Condolences to her husband and family.

Female Jockey Dies After Fall in Australia By The Associated Press
A 45-year-old female jockey died in a hospital from injuries sustained Nov. 9 in a race fall north of Brisbane, Australia.
Racing Queensland said in a statement that Desiree Gill was taken to a hospital after falling from her mount, Celtic Ambition, in the fifth race at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club in Caloundra. She died early on Sunday, Nov. 10.
Gill was the wife of leading Queensland trainer Barry Gill and she had previously worked for Racing Queensland in the training department. She spent 30 years in the racing industry and won four races at Bundaberg on Melbourne Cup day.
Racing Queensland said the rider ''was widely admired and loved for her passion for the racing industry and in particular, her commitment to developing the next generation of jockeys.''
