MY TAKE AWAY FROM THIS BC IS NOT VERY POSITIVE. IT WAS A SPEED BIASED TRACK, IN HUMID CONDITIONS IN WHICH WE SAW 3 HORSES BREAK DOWN, ONE OF WHOM HAD TO BE DESTROYED. WE ALSO SAW JV SUFFER AN INTERNAL INJURY ALL DO TO THAT ROCK HARD SPEEDWAY THEY CALL SANTA ANITA, THE VERY THOUGHT OF IT THIS TRACK BEING THE HOST SITE AGAIN NEXT YEAR MAKES ME SICK. ANOTHER TAKE AWAY I HAVE IS AMERICA MUST DO SOMETHING TO ADDRESS ITS TURF PROBLEM, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BC TURF SPRINT AND THE BC MILE THE EUROS TOOK HOME THE FIRST TWO SPOTS IN EVERY TURF RACE. ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT THE HORSES BEING SENT FROM EUROPE ARE 2ND STRING KITTENS JOY WAS ALSO EXPOSED AS A TURF SIRE, HIS OFFSPRING MAY RUN WELL AGAINST THE AVG. TURF HORSES DAY IN AND DAY OUT BUT WHEN THE BETTER SIRED HORSES SHOW UP HIS KIDS GO IN REVERSE .

KK:
I enjoy your thoughts and points of view. Wish you'd post more often here.
My thoughts about the BC were it was great watching Groupie Doll & Mizdirection repeat. I had MuchoMachoMan, so overall I enjoyed it. I did lose money over the two days, but not that much.

Kittens joy has made ken ramsey plenty of money so I seriously doubt he was "exposed". Whether you like it or not, the breeders cup is what it is. You think turf racing "is the proper" way to run horses. Who is to know? The last time I looked the americans had a damn strong 2 days of racing all together. The BC ain't going anywhere where the weather will be cold and miserable. Perfect example was the lousy weather in kentucky the last few days. SA has been a speedball track for 40 years so why was yesterday any different?

Mack, they could run it at Lone Star Park, Remington Park, even Sam Houston Race Park which may have the most pristine turf course in the country. But for the miniscule grandstand, Gulfstream would be a good site too.
There was never a question of weather conditions years ago before the prima donnas and the greedy BC Board of Directors started calling the shots. It was even run up in Toronto years ago with no worry about the conditions of the main or turf courses.
The problem is that they're picking the host track not based on racing conditions but how the big hats of the Access Hollywood celebrities might fare during the day - wind isn't good for flowery bonnets!
KK - you're being kind by calling the horses that were sent over from Europe the 2nd string. What most people don't realize is that the flat racing season in Europe ended several weeks ago, most horses in Europe had already been geared down or turned out a month or so ago.

COMPARED TO GALILEO HE IS A DROP OF SPIT IN THE OCEAN. GALILEOS' SON MAGICIAN TOOK DOWN AMERICAS RICHEST TURF RACE WHERE DID BIG BLUE KITTEN FINISH ?

I'll add that there was nice weather in MD yesterday. I agree with the Marylanders Shooter and Cait that Laurel would be a great site. Having been there, I can say it's a good venue and the turf course may be the best anywhere. Seriously dpubt there will ever be another BC in NY. Hate the weather argument for SA. Hot and humid is worse for horses than cool or even cold.
Yes - SA has had a speed bias since it went back to dirt. (don't think that's 40 years) but Friday's track was beyond a "speed bias". It was ridiculous. There was no excuse for that kind of track. None. Not for a supposed "Championship Day".

They never won anything? Last time I looked they won 3 or 4 grade 1's in one day at saratoga and arlington milliion day. Kittens joy was a horse nobody wanted and was a $40, 000 purchase. He turned out alright as a stallion in my book. Ken Ramsey knows what he is doing despite the fact he has little patience with his trainers.

MD, COME ON MAN, PUT THE FLAG DOWN FOR A SEC AND LETS LOOK AT THE FACTS. THE BREEDERS CUP IS AMERICAS CHAMPIONSHIP RACES IS IT NOT ? KITTENS JOY IS LOOKED AT AS THE BEST TURF SIRE IN AMERICA IS HE NOT ? WITH THAT BEING SAID NONE OF THE HORSES HE SIRED WON ANY OF THE TURF RACES AGAINST 2ND STRING EURO HORSES. FORGET ABOUT WHAT HIS HORSES DID DURING THE YEAR THAT MEANS NOTHING. IF YOU ARE KEN RAMSEY AND YOU MOUTH OFF ABOUT HOW GREAT OF A TURF SIRE KITTENS JOY IS AND NONE OF HIS OFFSPRING WINS A BC RACE THAN YOU SHOULD TONE IT DOWN A BIT. THIS IS THE BC THESE ARE CHAMPIONSHIP RACES SAVE ALL THE KITTENS JOY HYPE FOR KEENELAND

Yes the euros are better on the grass. The numbers don't fib. The question remains, have any kittens joy runners had success out there? Off the top of my head, I would guess no. That turf course was no better than calder or FG. It was bad

At least everywhere else in the US, when they card a race on turf they run the race on turf for the entire distance.

Why the qualification "not owned" by the Ramseys? Are we talking sire or owner? They keep lots of the horses they breed. www.drf.com/news/kittens-joy-offspring-give-ramseys-three-grade-1-wins-saturdayKitten's Joy offspring give Ramseys three Grade 1 wins SaturdayArlington Park race-caller John G. Dooley was marveling Saturday evening at how owner-breeders Ken and Sarah Ramsey had dominated the international competition on the Arlington Million card, the biggest day of the year in Chicago racing. “I should have told the crowd the Europeans have had a good day, and so has the red and white,” said Dooley, a sly reference to the familiar Ramsey colors. “The Americans didn’t need the blue.” Indeed, it was an unforgettable day for 74-year-old Ken Ramsey, who was on hand with many of his family members at Arlington to witness the victories by Real Solution (by disqualification) in the Grade 1 Million and Admiral Kitten in the Grade 1 Secretariat. Just 20 minutes before the Secretariat, the Ramseys also won the Grade 1 Sword Dancer at Saratoga with Big Blue Kitten. Ramsey said Monday afternoon from his Nicholasville, Ky., farm that he was “still on the highest cloud there is.” “They say a blind hog can find an acorn once in a while, but three acorns is quite a feast,” he said. “My family and I are enjoying this as much as anything we’ve ever done in racing, maybe even more than the Dubai World Cup,” which they won in 2005 with Roses In May. Perhaps what is most remarkable about their rare trio of Grade 1 events in one day was that the Ramseys not only bred all three horses, but each was sired by their stallion Kitten’s Joy, the 2004 Eclipse-winning turf champion whose final start ended with a runner-up finish and career-ending injury in the 2005 Million.........

I'M TALKING SIRE FOR THE MOST PART. KJ IS A COMMERCIAL STALLION HE IS NOT FOR PRIVET USE, THERE FOR ANYBODY WITH THE FEE AND A MARE CAN BREED TO HIM, AS I SAID BEFORE I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANY OFFSPRING NOT OWNED BY KEN THAT IS A G1 WINNER. JUST IMAGINE IF GALILEO DIDN'T SIRE ANY G1 WINNERS OUTSIDE OF THOSE OWNED BY COOLMORE. THERE WOULD BE NO FRANKEL, IGUGU AND THE REST. KJ IS GOOD, BUT HE IS NOT WHAT THEY SAY HE IS.

I don't think that when he's climbing on top of a mare he cares whether he's doing it for the family or he's being pimped out. A mating is a mating.
