Fresh off the presses, here are Todd Pletchers quotes from the Distaff:
"it's very biased" " I told Ed in the Paddock before the Distaff, I don't like the way the Tracks playing" "then to have her break out of the gate off stride and sideways and stumble, that made it even worse. It's frustrating, disappointing, to have the season for her to accomplish things that no other fillies have ever done in history and have it end that way unfairly it seems. But we knew that coming in, knew it was a risk."
" it certainly makes you think hard about who you bring back. It's an issue I think, if it continues to be that way. Yesterday it was very, very difficult to make up ground impossible."
I will not make any comments on these quotes, because no matter what I say certain people will either say it's slander, bias, my dislike of Pletcher, etc.

These were posted already. And they were in most of the racing publications Friday night and Saturday.
Everyone was critical of the track on Friday as it was obviously speed biased. There are a lot of posts about it.
Pres - I'm not sure why you posted this!

I understand they were published already, but NO ONE in Paddock Pros had posted them. There was quite a bit of debate Friday about the Track.
WOW I post something with NO comments and my intentions get questioned.

Many were in agreement:
Richard Mackson USA TODAY Sports Santa Anita's main track is in the middle of a major speed bias
DRF - Fri: “It’s speed favoring,” said trainer Doug O’Neill
"a day when the speed-biased nature of the main track was a major talking point." Jay Privman
Bloodhorse (about winning with Goldencents) Bejarano said with the track favoring early speed, he was not afraid of being aggressive.
"Yeah, that's why it was one of my options to send him right away from the gate,"
Ray Paulick - Friday night With a dirt track favoring speed,.................
DRF Fri "Front-runners dominated the other main-track races. Stanco, whose horse wins her races in their second half, had noticed. “I’ve been watching the races," Stanco said as the Distaff field left the paddock for the racetrack. "I’ve been paying attention. I know it’s a speed-favoring track."

Pretty sure if any of these trainers would have won a race, they would change their tune.

RacingGal:
When I handicap I don't look at the Trainer or Jockey until I've done my "homework" Then I look at the Jockey, then finally the Trainer. Now to be perfectly honest, I've not used certain Horses because of Trainers I don't like and it's cost me money.
I'm all for the "smaller" Trainers, never been a fan of those big names.

As long as the BC remains segregated on the West Coast, there will always be a bias. The horses who favor the conditions out there will continue to do well while those that do not will continue to struggle. Look no further than this year's edition. We had threerepeat winners in one day. That has never happened in the history of the BC. The Turf Sprint is basically a carbon copy of last year's running with a clear bias towards horses who already had experience racing down the hill on SA's turf course.
As for Pletcher's comments re the Distaff, the bottom line is that Princess should never have made the trip in the first place or should have taken on the boys in the Classic on Saturday's card when the track played much fairer. It is a shame that one dull eeffort on a biased racetrack will likely cost her an Eclipse Award to IMO a lesser filly whom she defeated soundly in their only meeting on neutral ground. Beholder is a nice filly no doubt but really, what has she done outside of her home base in Cali? Princess won graded stakes races on four different racetracks in 2013, including historic G1s like the KY Oaks, CCA Oaks, Alabama and Beldame.
Beholder's record for the year does not compare but it likely won't matter to the voters because the BC is still wrongly seen as the end-all-be-all for championship caliber thoroughbreds. What needs to happen is a total abandonment of this concept. Perhaps there needs to be some sort of point system put in place to decide these things instead of biased journalists and pundits making the decisions based on nonsense.
