....I think Royal Delta has seen her best racing days.
And I think Princess of Sylmar was overmatched by those older horses.

Sadly, you are correct regarding Royal Delta. As for Princess, she was over the top and should have been rested until next year as was the original plan.

Well it was a sporting gesture to send her out there to give it a try. In hindsight, as you say, they should have stuck to their original plan. It's now going to be a close vote, but considering the caliber of their respective races and performances, I think the edge will still go to Princess of Sylma. And don't forget, 2/3 of the voters are easterners !! This may become the ol' RA/Z debate reincarnated!

It was NOT a sporting gesture it was the Trainers idea to run her. Stanco stated she was done for the year.
Stop with the MUMBO JUMBO and I had a very nice win bet on Beholder. So no sour grapes here.
These owners get caught up in the "hype"

Pres, I completely drew a line through her here. As I said on another post, she ran her BC at Belmont and should have been rested. Hopefully she'll be okay going forward.

I agree Shooter. Pres - Stanco is not someone who does NOT call the shots. He wanted her to go. Your intense dislike for Pletcher makes you attempt to blame him. Nope - think he did what his owner wanted. She ran on a speedway. She lost. She'll be back. IMHO she has done a lot more than the house horse, Beholder. The way the track played today, Beholder was definitely the "play". Very disappionting race. The track bias is disgusting to me! There's no excuse for it.
RD just seems uninterested. Let's hope her idiotic owner doesn't want to go to Dubai - again.

Evelyn:
Did you talk to Mr. Stanco personally? She lost on a "speedway" there is your pure dislike of a West Coast Track. But if you know ANYTHING about Racetracks CD is just like SA, concrete.
You lately have just been laying in the weeds for me to make a statement about Todd,NY Racing etc and then you come out firing. Don't you have anything better to do?

Totally not true Pres Churchill is no where near the speedway SA is. In fact the lkast BC at Churchill the treack was anything but a "speedway". More like a bog.
You've made plenty of anti Todd posts that I've ignored. You slam him, NY racing almost every day. Yawn! Honestly, I don't even read most of them.
I have not personally spoken to Mr. Stanco but know his background as a businessman. Also, if you read the reports, no where did it ever say he didn't want her to run but Todd did. So I assume since you're so adamant he didn't want to go but Todd made him, you've spoken to him? Funny no one in the press picked up that story.
Please get over yourself. I have better things to do than hang on your every post - especially your Todd and NY racing ones.

Stanco on October 16:
"If she's in good racing shape, I really wouldn't want to be sitting home watching (the Breeders' Cup) on TV and have them say, 'Well, it's too bad Princess of Sylmar wasn't here,' " Stanco said. "So do it for the fans."
Evelyn, I agree with your comment about Royl Delta's "idiotic owner" - she'd have been twice the horse she was today if it weren't for that stupid trip to Dubai. Imagine if she'd stayed home both years?
As far as the "speedway", even the DRF articles after the races pointed out the ridiculously strong speed bias today.

JUST IMAGINE IF THEY HAD RUN EITHER ONE OF THOSE TWO, SYMAR OR DELTA, IN THE CLASSIC INSTEAD? THATS WHERE SOME OF YOU THOUGHT THEY SHOULD BE. AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE, EVERYONE WANTS TO START GIVING AWAY YEAR END AWARDS TO HORSES MIDWAY THROUGH THE SEASON WHEN THEY HAVENT FACED MALES OR EVEN OLDER MOST OF THE TIME. DELTA SHOWED ALL YEAR SHE WASNT THE SAME AS SHE WAS LAST YEAR, AND EVEN THEN SHE HAD NO BUSINESS RUNNING AGAINST MALES. AND PRINCESS IS MUCH BETTER THEN SHE SHOWED TODAY ON HER BEST DAY, BUT EVEN SO, SHE BEAT UP ON SMALL FIELDS OF ORDINARY HORSES IN THOSE RACES SHE WAS WINNING. HELL, CLOSE HATCHES HAS BEATEN HER IN 2 OUT OF 3 NOW. AS FAR AS THE BIAS GOES? DID BEHOLDER GO WIRE TO WIRE OR HAVE THE RAIL AT ANY POINT UNTIL THE STRETCH? NO. SHE SHOWED SHE WAS TONS THE BEST TODAY AND DESERVES CHAMPION 3 YR. OLD FILLY. IT WAS GREAT THAT PRINCESS RAN AND ALL, BUT SHE GOT BEAT.
I DONT KNOW WHO DECIDED WHERE TO RUN AND WHO DIDNT , AND NEITHER DOES ANYONE ELSE HERE. WHOEVER MADE THE DECISION THOUGH SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT TO EXPECT. THE TRACK WAS REALLY NO DIFFERENT THEN IT HAS BEEN FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS. ITS CALLED RACING EVELYN. THE FASTEST HORSE IS SUPPOSED TO WIN. NOT THE ONE WHO GETS THE BEST TRIP. THATS WHY I LIKE CA. RACING. I WILL TAKE PURE SPEED OVER A CLOSER ANYDAY OF THE WEEK.

Except that the dirt track was installed at the end of 2010 and went into use in late December that year - it has only been used for a little more than 2 years.

Yes, installed in time for the December 26 2010 opening day. In a month and a half it will be 3 years. Remember, that was the year that Oak Tree had to run at Hollywood Park because Santa Anita wasn't ready?
