Conditions at Santa Anita on Saturday are unlikely to prove a barrier to success for Olympic Glory in the Breeders' Cup Mile, according to Richard Hughes.
Once again poised to be crowned champion jockey, Hughes partnered the Richard Hannon-trained QEII winner on Wednesday morning and eased fears over a quicker surface being detrimental to his chance, despite his Ascot success having come on soft ground.
Hughes said: "He travelled over perfectly well and this morning I just gave him some light exercise, as the theme since Ascot is how incredibly fresh he has been.
"He was bucking and kicking on the Monday after the QEII and obviously that was instrumental in the decision to bring him out here.
"He is giving me every indication that he is ready to go again and I shall give him a spin on the grass track tomorrow.
"Some people say he is not as effective on firm ground but I would take them to task, remembering that he ran Moonlight Cloud to a short head in the Marois.
"Our only worry with this horse would have been if he had to run downhill, but that will not apply in the Mile on Saturday."
