That was very kind of you to give us this information.
Edited by Pres: For the record I thanked George sincerely. I find it totally offensive how certain people are trying to interpret my intentions.

FTR - Everyone who follows the boards knows about the big fight caused by PP's. TY for posting but please leave it at that. The sarcasm, game playing, w/e you want to call it!, from both sides, is coming through loud and clear.

Evelyn, I don't know what happened while I was out shopping, but just saw this.
FTR myself, I've been using brisbet PPs since they were only available as text files via FTP (prior to bris even having a full-blown website and prior to them converting to pdf format) circa 1990 (?) Many people don't like them, they are similar in some way but very different in other way than DRF PPs or other available documents, including Trackmaster, Equibase, etc.
For these races, I thought it useful for readers to have the alternate format because they have more detailed information in some areas (like pace figures, race summaries, etc.)
I don't post these day after day, just this weekend for the BC (and each days' earlier) races. No ulterior motives, no sarcasm intended.

One thing about BRIS this is my first weekend ever using their PP's. I have given up on the DRF, the new style was the last straw. I've been a DRF loyalist for 36 years, I started reading it at 18.
I have one of the BEST Teachers, Lt1. In fact this AM he corrected me on what lines I needed to add up. I probably picked the wrong weekend to start, but if I didn't do it now then I'd never give up the DRF. Anyone else willing to give me some pointers I'd truly appreciate it.

The couple of times that I saw Lt1 at Belmont Park, I was envious of his "sheets" - the sheets he had with all his calculations, figures, and picks. I tried to pick his brain a little, but there's just too much to absorb in such a short time.
I'm sure he could make a living giving live seminars on his methods. I'd sign up in a second.

George:
All you have to do is go to the Sartin site. There you can learn all you need to be a real good handicapper. It's only taken Tim 4 years to get me to see the "light" but now I see it.

Thanks, appreciate that.
A few months ago I went to this site ("Pace and Cap"), registered, and reviewed it briefly. Unfotunately at the time coudn't get too deeply into it. But, even without getting into the Sartin Methodology in detail, there are some good resources providing general handicapping information. Learning more about it (a big, but seemingly profitable undertaking) is one of my winter projects this year now that I'm retired.
What's amazing is that "systems" or "methods" come and go from year to year, most of them become obsolete in a short period of time. This one has been around since at least the early 1990s, and it's still current.

George Sartin has been going since the mid 80's. It's not a system but a methodology . There are no rules but guidelines. The user if serious will learn to shun mainstream handicapping tenants. The guidelines have stood the test of time. Doc has passed as well as several of the teaching members but the mantle has been picked up and so it still thrives. For anyone wishing to undertake learning the methodology you will find it is hard work but rewarding in the end. And there is plenty of support available to those who wish to learn,

Lt1, thanks....
A few months ago Idownloaded his videos and workbooks, started watching them back in the summer but it really takes some uninterrupted time - hopefully this winter I won't get distracted by things like mowing the yard, etc.!
I didn't realize he went back that far, the first I heard of him was in the '90s, and from what I saw at the time he was only conducting seminars, didn't realize his materials were available to the general public. I understand that at first his "following" was very limited.
As you said, it's a methodology that has outlived the trends of speed handicapping, trip handicapping, etc., which are only valid for a few years (once people catch on those "methods" become less profitable).

Lt1, George:
If only I had listened sooner. I've spent 8 hours the last 2 days just trying to "understand" BRIS. The DRF has had me brainwashed, let's hope I have some success this weekend.

The methodology was born when Doc Sartin was working with a group of convicts under court ordered therapy. It was by accident and not design that it started and evolved to what it is today. I joined in 1990 and had the pleasure to be counted among friends. He is missed as well as Jim the hat Bradshaw whose handicapping stunned Andy Beyer and other mainstream" experts" such as Quinn and Mitchell. They called him a voodoo handicapper.

Pres If you stick with them and don't go back and forth (I did that for a while years ago, I has a difficult time weaning myself from the DRF!) it'll come. Among the things that I like about them is the internal pace figures and the race summary after each race. Also (not a dig....) if you make a bet at a track the PPs and Insider Picks and Power Plays are free - the "IPPP" is a great shapshot of the races and particular angles for all horses that day (like Hot Trainer/Jockey Combinations, Ship-in Trainers, Key Races, etc.)

Of the widely available past performance products they are , to me , the best of the bunch. The pace numbers seem fairly ok. The final time speed figure blows away Beyer. Overall it's a superior product to DRF
